“Funky and Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

We stayed in the Zanzibar room at the Islander Inn in Woods Bay. View of lake from room, large & spacious with a mini-kitchenette.

The Raven (across the street) was hosting a local band that played great music and we enjoyed the deck outside and watched the gorgeous Woods Bay sunset.

Woods Bay is a great "jumping off" point to start a day of hiking or exploring the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park.

Room was exceptionally clean and comfortable.

We'll be back the next time we are in Montana!

“As a retired Hotel marketing person, I know value, cleanliness and fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

My partner and I travel a lot. We found the Islander Inn by chance and loved it! The suite we had was super clean, well equiped, with a funky island theme. The staff was more than helpful and the bar/restaurant (same owners) overlooking Flathead Lake was just across the street, popular with many local boaters and lots of fun. They have created and Island holiday theme, relax and enjoy feeling to their 7 rooms and it works! A fun change from our hiking in Glacier Park and general sightseeing all over the state. The prices are great for the area and we plan to go back on our next trip to Montana. This is our 4th visit to the area.

“Good place for drinking, dodging traffic, and crashing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2009

As places to stay on Flathead Lake go, this one is mediocre. If your idea of a vacation is finding the bottom of a bottle then this is your kind of place. Yes, you can see Flathead Lake. It is right there across Highway 35. Don't let that internet site fool you. There's some fancy photography on that baby! It's not quite as alluring when you get up close and personal. Suffice it to say I've been renting places off the internet for well over 10 years and this is the first and only time I've been burned.

“No place for a restful, leisure stay. Perhaps hunting lodge.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2009

Islander Inn is not directly on the water. To get to the lake, you need to cross a busy highway (Montana Highway 35). There is no quiet place to sit on a lawn & read a book, mostly a dock to sit on. Nearest the water, there is a raucus bar which means not much quiet until it closes in the early morning. We wanted a quiet place to catch up with college friends, and found a place that was "not" on the lake, very noisy - bar patrons looked rough. (I was born and raised in Montana, and this still looked "rough"). We did not complete our stay, and needed to find lodging elsewhere, which took away from time spent relaxing. This would be a great place to stay if you came off the lake and needed a place to crash, or utilized during hunting season. But a relaxing get away where you could sit by the lake with a glass of wine, read, watch sunset ..... No.

“All of Montana wrapped up into one inspiring, relaxing & amazing location!!!”

When I think of Montana, I see beautiful vistas of majestic mountains, shimmering lakes, awesome sunsets & endless skies. I feel the warmth & hospitality of the locals & their sincere desire to make you feel at home & welcome. O.K., I'm from Montana, but I REALLY felt like a tourist when I stayed at the Islander Inn in Woods Bay, just south of Bigfork Montana. Last month my husband & I needed a much needed get away but didn't have the time to really get too far. We settled on Flathead Lake in northwestern Montana. The island theme of the inn is what caught our eye. It was very tasteful, not tacky. Lisa & her staff made us feel at home right from the start. From helpful emails prior to our arrival to the friendly staff at the adjacent restaurant . Across from the inn is The Raven, a casual Carib. style with a full bar and unending views of Flathead Lake. The lake is RIGHT there!!! The rooms were really clean & comfortable. We got one of the upper end rooms with a jaccuzi tub & mini kitchen. The atmosphere is casual but not sloppy. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting. We'll be back!
