“Does the job”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Nothing particularly fancy here, but the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fine, the hotel was crowded, but the woman taking care of keeping breakfast area clean and stocked did a great job. If there is a downside to this hotel, its the location. You're about 2 miles from the Convention Center and Power and Light district. The free shuttle only ran until 4 pm on Saturdays. It will cost you about $10 for a 5 minute cab ride to those places.

“only average for overall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I travel extensively and find this Marriott location to be only average.

The thing that bothers me most at Marriott Residence Inn locations is they are touted as extended stay hotels. Thus you expect the range/oven, refrigerator etc for the apartment experience for long term stay for travelers and or business people (like me). So when I arrive at one and there are no cooking dishes, supplies, etc. in the room and the staff has to go hunting around and sometimes do not come up with 'what should be in the room'. It stresses me to no end. Sometimes I check in late and do not need the hassle of doing and inventory of what should be in the room and then calling to complain about the missing items.

I.E. you cannot use the microwave without a set of plastic bowls, cannot use the range without a complete set of pans, cannot use the oven without oven dishes or broil a steak without a broiler, utensils, etc., etc.

The other issue that bother me at some Marriott locations? What good is a breakfast and or dinner offering if you have to (in cold weather) bundle up - and walk outside a block or two to get to the separate building to access the food. So if it is raining or worse snowing - forget about it! hummmm not what I come to expect if going to a Marriott. Oh and by the way at all locations the dinner is served M-T , not here, no Thursday meal (staff cut back due to cost??) Not so at other Marriotts!

The last straw? Let's talk about advertised free high speed internet. If it takes over TWO minutes to load any page you are trying to access IT IS NOT HIGH SPEED. That is slower than dial up. The connection here is so slow you cannot watch any uTube or even attempt to watch any Hulu, Netflix or any other video web site. Just will not work!

My Sprint 3G air card with limited access here worked faster!

“Another Nice, Week-long Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

I've stayed at this Residence Inn several times over the years for business. In 2011 I've stayed a week in June and another week in September. The room was clean, breakfasts good, and the nights of complimentary food and drink very nice. The staff was always friendly and helpful. A special thanks to the van drivers, Henry and DJ, who are always very accomodating and friendly - these guys do a great job! The location is very convenient to Downtown, the Plaza, and just a short drive to many other KC locations. I would definitely stay again for business or pleasure.

Room Tip: No elevators so if you travel with a "Big Bertha" suitcase like I do, you might want to as...

“Old RI...needs some updating to bring it up to standard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

Hard to get to location. If you drive by the hotel, you'll miss the entrance. Old style RI where you have to walk up to your room. The housekeeping staff sprays too much of the deoderizing in the room...very offensive. Beds were comfortable, AC worked great, the bathrooms are tight and a need to be refreshed. Breakfast was usual fare for a RI. Wish they had more fresh fruit...just had a bowl of melon under glass. This place is in the middle of nowhere...so it is a 10 minute drive to any eating or drinking places.

Room Tip: if you have a lot of luggage, don't go to the 3rd floor...no elevator.

“I love Residence Inns”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

We stay at Residence Inns because we mostly travel with our dogs and they are so pet friendly. This trip, however, was sans husband and dogs and with my sisters and nieces. It was your standard Residence Inn. Can't say a bad thing at all. The clerks at check in and check out were extremely friendly. We needed to call maintenance and they were there within 5 minutes. I have never had a problem with Marriott and we have stayed with them from Denver to Atlanta.
