“Loved it, loved it, loved it”

My husband and I just returned after 8 nights at the Hacienda de la Costa. It lives up to all of the kudos it has been receiving on Trip Advisor and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, laid-back getaway in beautiful surroundings. We've stayed in many different hotels & resorts in Mexico over the past 20 years and this place rates at the top. Terri is an excellent cook, so if you have a chance to have one of her twice-weekly dinners, you won't be disappointed. We didn't have a car and didn't feel the need for one as it was easy to walk down into town and get a taxi back up. We loved Sayulita and will be back.
Thanks Steve & Terri!

Room Tip: We stayed in La Palma and had a beautiful ocean view from both the window in our room and from our p...

“Luxury in the jungle”

my fiancé and i had a wonderful, relaxing stay at hacienda de la costa. we rented a car, and i would highly recommend this to others...hacienda de la costa is tucked away in the jungle on pretty bad roads, but it's well worth the 20-30 minute drive from the main road to hear nothing but the ocean and birds (and the burro next door). we didn't have a 4-wheel drive vehicle but i would get one on our next visit. my fiancé surfs and we had a great time driving around the nayarit coast - especially liked the beach at san francisco, much more low key than sayulita. rented the car from gecko - great guys who not only helped us with local surf spots but lent my fiancé a leash for his board. great hospitality all around - definitely visit this beautiful part of mexico, and stay at the hacienda if you're looking to get away from it all, but be close to everything at the same time.

Room Tip: we had la palma - i would stay in that room again, or the room above.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with the Trip Advisor community. I agree that if you’re an avid surfer then you’ll want to rent a car to maximize your ability to visit the best breaks. We’re located just 1 ½ miles from the paved road, so it’s a 7-10 minute drive at most, but it’s a bumpy dirt road so I can understand why a person accustomed to city driving might find that the slow pace makes the trip seem longer. Usually after a person drives it a couple times they're comfortable with it. A 4-wheel drive is recommended during the rainy season, June to mid-October, but unnecessary otherwise, the road is commonly navigated by compact cars and golf carts. The vast majority of our guests are not surfers, but they are active individuals of all ages, and rather than rent a car they prefer to walk into town and either walk or taxi back after a wonderful meal at one of Sayulita’s many great restaurants. In fact, of the 60 or so bookings that we've had so far this season less than 10 have felt a need to rent a vehicle.

We found this B&B on trip advisor and the reviews were true. We loved it!!!!! Terri and Steve gave us a very warm welcome, kick started each day with a great breakfast and accommodated all our holiday inquires.
Terri was great at making sure I had gluten free breakfasts and Steve gave us the perfect challenges to keep us entertained.
This place is perfect for those looking for an authentic mexican paradise, tucked high in the jungle over looking the ocean. Very clean and creative rooms, food was fantastic and best of all the lovely people we met sharing paradise.
Its a great walk into Sayulita and a quicker walk to some beautiful remote beaches. We will be back!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are unique and have their own perks. The higher rooms have amazing views. We loved our gar...

We always try our best to accommodate dietary restrictions, as it turns out gluten-free isn't that much trouble and well worth the pleasure of meeting you. Your record time for running the circuit will give future guests a great challenge, good job!

“Relaxation at its best!”

My husband and I just returned from 11 fabulous days with Steve and Terri. Since this was our second visit, we booked our favorite room, La Vista suite, as early as possible. Our days were spent either sitting on the beach in town or walking to one of the two secluded beaches Hacienda has access to. The great food in town was topped only by Terri's daily breakfast. Steve and Terri are such gracious hosts. They have great suggestions for restaurants in town as well as activities to do if that’s your thing. Their location outside of town makes for quiet evenings, with the exception of the relaxing soundtrack of waves, insects and birds. The walk into town is something we have always enjoyed. It is a rigorous walk through beautiful jungle, but even at 4 months pregnant it was manageable (plus it balances out all that sitting on the beach we do). If you are looking for a getaway to help take your mind off your busy life, this is the place.

Room Tip: We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and watching whales from La Vista.

“A Wonderful Weekend Escape!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

My husband and I just returned from a perfect weekend get-a-way to Hacienda de la Costa. The natural surroundings are absolutely gorgeous: gardens, palm trees, ocean views (including whales in the distance!), to die for sunsets and dark starry skies...what a treat! The house itself is also lovely and really well designed. Much attention to detail here, you will not want for anything. Each Guest suite has its own, or access to a fully stocked kitchen. So bring some snacks and drinks to enjoy for lunch so you dont have to go into town if you dont feel like it. You can also pack a picnic and go to one of the two close by beaches for a beautiful day of sunning, beach combing and boogie boarding (coolers, beach towels, boogie boards, umbrellas all available for guest use). The beaches are secluded and yours to enjoy on your own... besides maybe a few late afternoon local surfers.

We loved staying in La Palma Suite. The room was spotless clean, spacious, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was large and luxe.

Breakfast was original and delicious. Your hosts are welcoming and accommodating.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to back!

It's so great that you noticed the whales! I feel so fortunate to look up from my computer and see them lolling about November to March, I usually only see their blows but they occassionally put on a great show of jumping straight up out of the water, I never tire of seeing them.
