Oppdal Gjestetun worked perfectly for my family on our skiing vacation. We were were quite intimadated by the Norwegian prices, but Gjestetun was an option that we could afford. It was a great place to stay while we were skiing. We used the free bus to get from the hotel to the mountains, which is only a ten-minute, scenic ride. And they bring you back home from the mountain at the end of the day as well. That was a huge help since we didn't have a car .
The rooms are fabulous. They're big and spacious, and the beds are awesome. Lots of space with a very interesting design. I never slept in a bed like that before, with posts and even a canopy on top. It felt really Norwegian to me.
There's even a kitchen right in the room for preparing something hot after a long day on skiis. The hot spa was right down the hallway from our room was a huge added bonus. I used it every day, and there's no question that the sauna makes the ski trip more authentic.
Lastly, the staff wasextremely friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect, since the Gjestetun is a "motel", but the service was first rate. The staff treated me and my family like honored guests. Where else can you find that?!
