“Should have listened to the reviews”

We stayed at Hannibal Inn this past weekend after staying at several hotels in the Hannibal Area over the years. We booked this trip through Hotwire and saw that it was rated 2 1/2 stars. That rating is not even close. The pool was nice but as someone else mentioned, do not look up. There are numerous ceiling tiles missing. We had booked the several rooms with 2 adults and 2 children requiring 2 double beds with each room. i called ahead to confirm the reservation and after a great deal of prodding the person who answered the phone said that we had a reservation. I asked if it was for a double double and was informed that it was. Once we arrived I went to the front desk and stood there for a few minutes while the attendant finished his phone call. I was then told that we had booked King rooms and he could switch them but I would have to pay for it. This hotel is an absolute joke. They talk about the renovation that had been done. The only thing hat was done that I could tell is some new carpet and bed linens. The mattresses under the bed linens were disgusting. They also didn't secure the exterior doors while we were there.

“Go Down the Street to Quality Inn and Suites”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

We were very disappointed with our stay at Hannibal Inn. The first glitch was when we checked in and they tried to charge us more than our reservation (which we had prepaid). After we showed them the receipt they reluctantly gave us our room. We called down for a crib which is advertised as free in the room manual. They told us it was $10! We told them they in the room, it says in writing that it's free and they still refused to honor it so we went without a crib. Every time we called the front desk for assistance (nearby places, time for breakfast...) they were not much help:( At breakfast, we could NOT believe they advertised a hot buffet breakfast - The bagels were stale, the juice tasted sour (machine needed cleaning) and the microwave eggs were HORRIBLE. My kids who would eat ANYTHING refused most of it. The highlight was the pool which is very warm for kids. I can tell this hotel use to be really nice but boy has it gone down! The next nights we stayed at the Quality Inn and Suites in Hannibal. This hotel is actually rated slightly less (2 stars) than the Hannibal Inn (2.5 stars) at some sites but it was a PALACE compared to Hannibal Inn. The breakfast was GREAT, customer service wonderful, great rooms, we couldn't believe the hotels are similar price and rating. Trust me, go to Quality Inn or another hotel nearby.

“I have stayed in nicer hotels.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

The rooms were ok. The beds were ok but one of them had yellow stains on the sheets. About 10:30 pm we had to change rooms because the a/c stop working. We also took the kids to the game room. It was so hot in there because there is no a/c or fans. Come on people it is July and it is 100 degrees outside. You would think a room that is in the building would have a/c. The only positive was the morning breakfest. I am glad we only stayed one night.

“Nice clean hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2010

The hotel is an old Holiday Holidome, so a very big pool and nice hot tub. The staff was very friendly and everything was clean. There were very few people there, so pretty much had the run of the place.

One reason we chose this hotel over the other like priced hotels there was their claim of a free hot breakfast. They were streching this quite abit. They had scrambled eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits. When we were there they brought out more gravy and eggs. The gravy came out of a gallon jar of generic gravy, the biscuits were small biscuits from the day old bread store and the scrambled eggs were cold in the middle, when i mentioned this to the lady she said, "Oh, Sorry, we buy them already scrambled and microvave them as we need them, i will throw them in the microwave for you. They had some stale cereal, warm milk and hard bagels.

Next time we will just go to the larger chain hotels next door with the continental breakfast and newer facilities. They were only $5 higher for the night.

They also stated they had an exercise room, but this consisted of a low cost treadmill that did not look like it would stand up to a fat boy like me, and a few other home quality machines. If you are looking for a serious workout this is not the place for you.

As I said there were very few people there, so we did sit and talk with some of the people that worked there and they were all very friendly. If the other hotels were sold out or more expensive I would stay there again without any worries.

“Awesome Hotel, our favorite!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2009

We have been going to Hannibal Inn for 16 years and it has been our favorite ever since. The Hannibal Inn was pretty rundown but since they remodeled it is better than it has ever been! The staff is very nice and love to talk to you. The rooms are great also, poolside rooms have a refrigerator and a microwave. The pool is very warm. Reasonable rates. We love the holidome, it has the huge pool, a nice sized arcade room, pool tables, foosball, free breakfast, and a exercise room. This is and always will be our favorite hotel! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
