“perfect end to a not so perfect day”

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel and after a very long day with many stumbling blocks we were thrilled to finially end up at the Days Inn in Cameron.
The front desk was extremely helpfull and had answers to all of our questions and needs and gave us a room that completely exceded our expectations!
The bed was comfortable and the pillows were awesome. We even had time to enjoy the pool before we turned in.
Breakfast was exceptional and definitely saved us the cost of going out to eat. It gave us a good start to our day indeed. Not to mention checking out was as pleasant and speedy as checking in.

“Bed Bugs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

We were traveling from the Gulf Coast, New Orleans, Memephis, and back to Cloquet, Minnesota. We were aware that the situation with bed bugs was a major concern, and religeously checked our hotel room for bugs immediately after check-in and prior to bringing our things in. This was the last night of our 10 day trip, and our fifth hotel. Thank goodness we checked, even though we had had no bugs throughout our trip. There they were, crawling all over the "new" mattress and box spring. YUK- got our charge credited and drove away at light speed. Be careful here.

“You get what you pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2009

Although room appeared clean I did not care for this hotel. I felt like the hotel as a whole including the room was below average. The breakfast was not good but some of my colleagues did like the waffles that you could make yourself.

“will never go back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2008

When we stayed at the Days Inn for two nights we found it to be the worst place we had stayed in a long time. The faucet in the bathtub wouldnt change the temp, the screen on the window was broken, there were ants under the window, mold on the bathroom floor and my daughters bed had stains on the blanket under the bedspread. We even had housekeeping come into our room while my wife was in the shower. That was after the front desk told them not to do our room and we had put out the do not disturb sign. What has topped it off is that I found out today that there are several additional charges on my card that continues after I left the hotel. One of them is for a cleanup fee when we happened to leave the hotel cleaner than we found it. my wife has OCD and made the beds, took out the trash and wiped the tables down every morning and night. Now Im fighting with the motel as well as letting everyone up to corporate know how things have gone for us.

The guest who had this issue did not ever once bring this up to the hotel staff during the stay, as a matter of fact, they extended their stay in the same room. I do not see how if the conditons were so bad it was not reported upon check in or shortly after and defenitly not extended the stay.
The guest was charged $25 for cleaning fee, due to the room having vomit in both the bathroom and main room areas. This was not reported to front desk, and as guest states in his review he asked for no housekeeping. This made the cleanup very difficult and required the room to be unrentable for 3 days. I feel $25 is a very reasonable charge for this. It cost the hotel 3 nights revenue, plus $75 carpet cleaning fee, and linens were ruined.
The guest did not even bring any of this up during stay only after he saw the $25 charge on c/c bill did it become this issue.
This hotel has a record number of repeat business customers, it has maintained strong values which is why we keep those repeat guests. If we do not maintain the hotel, and give bad customer service, I do not see how we would achieve this.
I ask the readers of the review to please consider the situation, the guest was upset about the additional charge, but yet wasn't upset that his room had vomit in it, and didn't want housekeeping for two days. I do not think we should be judged based on a disgruntled guest.

“okay place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2006

We were traveling cross country and needed an overnight for 5 adults within an hour of Kansas City. The Holiday Inn Express had a room with three queen size beds and was reasonably priced, so I booked our stay. When we got to the room, we found that the air conditioning was not cooling the room. After a bit of discussion with the people behind the desk, they agreed to give us two rooms for the same price. (Their original suggestion was one room with a rollaway. When we said we would want to be reimbursed for going to one room, they reconsidered the offer and gave us the two rooms.) The air conditioning in one of those rooms was not 100% either, but was cooler than nothing.

Overall, it was an okay place to spend the night. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. The hotel itself seems to be showing its age. (But aren't we all?) And the next morning, the woman behind the desk was delightful.

If we are ever in Cameron again, we might check out a different place to stay.
