“The ants come marching one by one by one by one...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011 via mobile

My wife, 2 children (ages 3yo and 10 months), and myself are traveling home to Collierville, TN from a wonderful trip to beautiful Destin, FL. We have stopped in Meridian, MS, tue half-way point, to spend the night and let our babies rest from the road trip. We were a little miffed that there was no indoor pool, fridge, or microwave, but it's only one night so we could deal. However, when you're woken up at 3am by your spouse to slaughter, literally, an army of ants marching through the bathroom and into your room - I can't deal with that. So I've now gone to the lobby and got a new room (4am now:) and a refund, moved our sleeping children and all of our luggage to the new "ant-free" room, and I'm going to attempt to sleep (and stop itching)! You can bet we won't be staying for breakfast.

CGDPharmD,
Thank you for writing a review of your stay. We are truly interested in what our guests have to say. We would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the ants in your room. Our staff works hard to provide every guest the best possible stay, but sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. I am glad that the night staff was able to move you to new accommodations, and I hope that you will give us another chance during your next trip through the area.

“Okay, but not great”

This is an older property. It is in reasonably good shape, but not as nice as some of the newer Hampton Inn properties. The air conditioning was noisy and ran constantly. It did not have a thermostatic control that switched it on/off. There was also a slightly musty odor. On the positive side, the heavy hor d oeuvres at happy hour and the buffet breakfast were very nice. I might stay here again, but would also check other options in Meridian.

“Great stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We stayed here using Hilton Honors points and it was well located for our stop off from the Interstate. Spacious, clean room with excellent wifi (the router was just outside)! Very friendly southern welcome, followed by a call to the room to make sure everything was ok. I was planning to do laundry here, but you have to go next door to the Hilton (I think) to do this. That would be my only downside. The weather was very wet so I didn't fancy the walk in the rain. Loads of nearby restaurants but you have to drive really, even though it's just over the road - you can see them! Manager's reception in the evening was good (free beer from recollection) and the breakfast was fine too.

“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

This hotel is a little hard to spot from the street as it is behind some other buildings and trees, but once we got into it we were very pleased. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. The room was very clean and quiet. The pool was a little small but good for the kids. All in all this was one of my better hotel choices in ages!

“Air conditioners kicked on and off repeatedly and disturbed our sleep all night.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

The front desk staff was very friendly. The breakfast was okay. Although the beds were very comfortable, we got very little sleep due to the loud air conditioner. Unless the AC was turned off (which did not seem like an option considering that we had a 3 year old and a 1 year old trying to sleep
and the temperature was 100
degrees outside) it would kick on loudly, run for about 10 minutes then turn off, only to kick back on loudly after about 2 minutes. This happened all night regardless of what temperature we set the thermastat We called the front desk and the peron
who answered indicated that the air conditioners were like that in all of their rooms and that guests complained about it all the time.
In fact, he said, that the air conditioners were probably the biggest complaint that he heard
about the hotel. I would recommend staying in this hotel ONLY during seasons when air conditioning/heating would not be required.
