We stayed here in April 2009 during the juke joint festival
the hotel was "ok"

we paid cash on deprature and were not given a receipt something we didn't notice because we were given paperwork

When we arrived back in the uk we found that the money had also been taken off our credit card (so we paid twice)
attempts to sort it out by phone were met by ignorance on the part of the staff and sheer rudeness on the part of the manager who acuused us of lying - never again!!!!!!!!!!

The good news is that the bad reviews won't apply any more. The whole place is being completely renovated. The bad news is that the contractors are very sloppy and leave debris everywhere. We had to have our tires checked after driving through the mess they left in the parking lot. To the hotel's credit they reduced our rate accordingly. This will be a nice place in the future so we will say thumbs up.

We had 2 rooms; one smelled like cat urine, the other no electricity in half of room and not cleaned well. We slept in our clothes. Even though front office computer ran slow, we had coffee while waiting for check-in. Door keys kept disfunctioning. But front desk gal -who was working alone with a full hotel during the blues festival- still came to clean our bathroom herself. The hotel was doing some renovations and the staff did the best they could. Not much available in this small town. We'll be back to the festival, but will stay overnight in Tunica or Memphis.

This place was good but not great. We had a problem with our room and they gave us a new one with no problem. The lady at the front desk was very nice. This hotel is not 5 star but if you're staying in Clarksdale it will get the job done.
