Great first impression - the front desk staff were wonderful, as we were stopping on our way home from SD with no reservation. They got us into a suite which only cost us $4 more. The room was spacious...which was great for our 1 year old to run around and play in.

However, we had the worst night's sleep of our entire 7 hotel nights of the trip. It was incredibly loud. The walls were paper thin, and we could hear a ton of noise from above us. I don't know what it was, but you could hear people walking overhead and other loud sounds from above. Then, at 12:30 a.m., there was some extremely loud noise from the hallway, which sounded like someone was restocking the ice machine or something - really loud dropping noises. I actually got up to investigate, and there was just a guy looking at the vending machine, so maybe he was trying to rock it or something - very loud. Finally, at 4:30 a.m. a large garbage truck came right up outside our window and began emptying the dumpsters (on a Saturday morning!). That was it! We were all up for the day, as our 1 year old would not go back to sleep after that ruckous. Nice hotel, but the noice level was unbearable. Breakfast was good, but not great.

Traveling through South Dakota taking our son to college in WI, we needed a place to stay off I-90 for the night. Influenced by other reviews I zeroed in on this hotel and found it to be just what we like. Great accommodations, wonderful dining next door, clean rooms and wonderful front desk personnel. I am a seasoned traveler and have a good idea on what to look for when searching for what we need. Thick towels. This hotel has very nice and thick towels, I knew we were in the right spot. Beds were very comfortable, firm and soft pillows are provided, and I also look for a great shower head. This room provided a rain head shower head. Breakfast was better than just the average juice, yogurt, fruit and coffee - hot foods, juice, cereal, muffins, eggs, yogurt and a great seating area. We very much appreciate this hotel providing the guests a great breakfast and just enough to start the day. Great location, good price, very clean, and appreciate all the hospitality.

Beware that this hotel advertises suites on it's web site, but the rooms are actually one large room with the beds and seating area all together. I raised the issue that these are not really suites with the manager. He refused to credit me the difference in charges (about $10) between in a regular room and a "suite". Otherwise, for the price, the hotel is average - clean, but nothing special.

I thought the rates were pretty high for the middle of nowhere, but aside from that I have no complaints. This was a very nice clean hotel with comfortable beds and a friendly staff. Some other reviewers have said that the breakfast was so-so, but after a trip through some small South Dakota towns where the mean consisted of cereal, hard biscuits and coagulated gravy I thought it was quite impressive. They offered bacon, egg omelets, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, great cinnamon buns and good coffee.
