Visited Isle Royale out of Grand Portage and wanted a place to stay in or near Duluth for the evening. I originally had a room reserved in Duluth, but didn't really like the options or the locale, so I found the Superior Gateway Lodge through Trip Advisor. What a "find"! This is a gorgeous log-cabin home built by the owners' son. We stayed in the room downstairs (2 beds, table/chairs/dresser and the private bath is located separately a few steps away). We also had access to a "gameroom" with a ping-pong table; couch, tv, board games. We had a private outside entry downstairs. The owners live off-site, but come and fix a wonderful breakfast for $12 additional - and were a joy to visit with. The view, grounds and home are gorgeous. Everything is decorated beautifully and very clean and comfortable. There was a couple staying upstairs and we could hear some talking and walking around, but it was not a real problem. Everything was quiet at bed-time. Would definitely recommend this one and I would love to go back and stay a lot longer next time. You won't be disappointed. (Tip: follow directions owner gives to you - GPS had a little problem finding it.)
