“best overall hotel in america”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I am a flight attendant and travel 5 days a week. This hotel has the best ambience, service, and breakfast in the country! They pick you up at the airport in exactly the amount of time that they tell you the van will be there. The van drivers are educated, accomodating people. They take care of your bags, open the door for you at the van and the hotel, and generally exhibit a very caring attitude. The front desk makes you feel like you have come home...jen, lucas, sue, and lisa all welcome you with a smile and an attitude of what can they do for you. The breakfast is great....clean area with fresh food. The rooms are spacious and VERY clean. You just can't help but want to come back to this place!!! I won't stay anywhere else in the Twin Cities...

Room Tip: Stay on the first floor as there is no elevator.

“Very satisfactory but ask for a quiet room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed one night when my husband was in the Twin Cities on business. When we arrived at the property I became concerned because the hotel was right on a major highway and the noise was deafening! When we were unloading the car we had to shout to be heard. But we asked the very pleasant woman at the desk for a quiet room if possible and could we please have a late checkout. Our room on the second floor – was on the quiet side of the building and we were not bothered by the traffic. The room was nice, very clean, the beds much better than many motels, plenty of pillows (I had forgotten to bring mine, but all was well), a nice complimentary breakfast and enough TV channels to keep me quite happy. Late checkout was at 1pm which allowed me to stay in the pleasant room while my husband went to his meeting. The only problem I had was at 10am – the alarms went off on my floor – flashing lights and very loud alarms up and down the hall. I was shaken, gathered my purse and coat and ran downstairs. I asked the clerk at the front desk what was going on, and he off-handedly and unapologetically pointed to a piece of paper flat on the counter saying there was a fire – alarm test to be done. “Didn’t you see or get one of these?” Uh, no...surely I would not be standing in front of him looking a little scared, carrying all my stuff, if I knew it was merely a test of the alarm system. I might suggest letting customers know if there is going to be an alarm check – surely Holiday Inn could figure out how to do that. Other than that, everything was very satisfactory.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

I apologize sincerely for the circumstances of your recent stay in our hotel. We certainly thought we informed everyone for the fire alarm testing. Obviously it didn’t happen and you didn’t receive the immediate apology you should have. That is not typical for our staff and is unacceptable. I am glad you enjoyed the breakfast, television and channels, late check-out and the experience you had at check-in. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback and be assured we take all guest comments very seriously.

“Great Property!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I recently had an opportunity to spend three nights at this HIE. The facility was very well maintained, and seemed to me to be on the high-side of Holiday Inn Expresses as relates to public spaces and room amenities.
What struck me the most was the level of professionalism exhibited by the staff, from the front desk employees to the lady who tended the great free breakfast. I've worked with staffs in several top-end conferencing hotels and the HIE Eagan employees would give them a run for their money.
When in Eagan again, this will be my stop.

“Home Away From Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

When visiting our extended family, we always stay here. We especially like the suites with a "mini" kitchen. Living area has room for visitors--our grandkids love to visit and can use the pool. Great beds, great staff, great rates, good breakfast and new flat screen TV's. It is our clean and comfortable "home away from home."

“Nice hotel, but no elevator”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

This was a nice hotel - a little different than the newly built HIE's. My main surprise - which I didn't see pointed out on the web site - is that there is no elevator for the 2nd floor rooms. As I was only staying 2 nights, I stayed anyway. The front desk was accomodating in carrying my luggage up for me. I happened to be leaving when a gentleman was leaving and carried it down for me. Otherwise, nice, even though older, room - large with mini fridge and microwave.

Room Tip: Ask for first floor - there is no elevator
