Worked well for us. Granted, we used Marriott Reward points, so it didn't cost anything, but it would definitely have been worth the normal $99 rate. It's right across the street from the Miller Hill Mall, at the intersection of the main roads to get downtown, to the north shore, or to Wisconsin. I grew up in Duluth, and it was only a quick 12 minute drive to my parent's home in West Duluth.
The staff was very pleasant, the breakfast room was not a "it's 9 am, time to lock up" operation. We even needed a milk an hour later so my one daughter could take some medications, and they unlocked the cooler and got one. Continental breakfast included in-season fruit, waffle, breakfast sandwiches, juice, milk, yogurt, toast, bagels, oatmeal, etc. Perhaps a second waffle iron would be nice.
Same with the pool - not a big pool, but comfortable. It's adult time from 10 to 11, but, the only adults there had teenagers, and they didn't become sticklers on that.
