We have been coming to Ruttger's for 8 years straight. We started off in the main lodge and as our family grew, we now stay in a lakefront cabin. The location is wonderful! The lunch menu is good and is improving every year. It has much more variety than the standard club sandwich! The breakfast buffet is a bonus. I have read other reviews that complain about the type of food served - they should eat in their cabin or go into town. Complaining about free breakfast?!? There is a Kids Club that has great activities for those age 4 and up. Plenty of fire pits for bonfires! The rooms are dated, but the price we pay is not outrageous, either. Charcoal grills are available, free of charge. The beach area has plenty of lounge chairs.

What a dump this place is. It was dirty, the rooms were tiny. The Manager John is full of BS!!. the intire property needs an update inthe worst way! If your looking for a place to throw your things while your out on the lake and are not going to stay there, its perfect!! The people that go there annually are people that went there 30 yrs ago and are trying to relive their childhood experiance. The dining area is like a cafeteria, they try to make it look expensive for dinner. It blows. The food is average at best. The breakfast is all pastries. If your looking for a sugar high, you got it. If you want to eat healthy or feed your kids, dont eat there. I give this dump a big fat -10. dont waste your vacation..

Starting with the positive features: Beautiful location, lovely lakeshore property and friendly staff.
Unfortunately, we were overwhelmed with the negatives...
Our room was gross, disinfectant smell combined with moldy odor, disgusting towels, poor/no ventilation, sulfurous water smell and quality, much noise from upper floor guests and horrible beds just topped it off...
We had no housekeeping during our visit, alerted the front desk but to no avail...
We are seasoned travelers but this was remarkably awful.
Hopefully, the owners will make much needed improvements to be consistent with the Ruttgers reputation. We would NOT stay here again...

We were very disappointed with our 2 bedroom, 2 bath 'rustic' cabin. It was very dirty. The first thing we did was vacuum. There was someone else's garbage out on the deck, including a dirty towel. The beds were very hard. The carpet needs replacing badly. Everything is dated. That would have been acceptable, but the uncleanliness was not. Would not go back there again.
