“Absoultely Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2010

Planned a girlfriend's Wine Tour weekend and stayed at Blackstar Farms Inn for 2 nights. What an amazing experience! From the second we checked in, Jill was such a gracious hostess the entire weekend. She made us feel special without being overbearing. We loved the hospitality hours, and the breakfasts -- WOW! Really fabulous food! The chef cooked a special dinner on Saturday which we took advantage of and it was incredible. We stayed in the Castor/Pollux suite which was perfect for 3 adults. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and we LOVED the sitting room with fireplace and view of the stables. What a great place to relax and catch up. The grounds are beautiful, we went for a hike in the morning before hitting the Wine Trail, and even though temps were in the 20's, the forest and the vineyards were beautiful and we enjoyed our walk. We even watched some of the equestrians work their horses in the indoor arena. Overall, it was a perfect weekend and I can't say enough about the awesomeness of this Inn!

“Worth the Trip from New York”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

Although we moved from southeastern Michigan to New York in January of 2008, we continue to visit the Inn at Black Star Farms for a long weekend every October. It’s a lengthy trip, but BSF feels like home. The innkeepers are warm and welcoming, the accommodations are comfortable and luxurious, the chef prepares a wonderful breakfast each morning, and the hospitality hour affords an opportunity to try Black Star Farms wines away from the crowds in the winery’s tasting room. We experienced a wonderful fall weekend last week, cool but sunny, perfect for hiking on the property’s trails and visiting with the horses and other farm animals. My favorite: a pony named Whoa Nelly.

“Incredible Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

Just spent the most relaxing weekend at Black Star Farms, it is incredible and worth every penny. Doe Coe, the managing partner and Kelly were warm and friendly. The rooms include a bottle of wine, appetizers and drinks in the evening. Breakfast will satisfy the most picky foodie. My most enjoyable part was visiting the farm and seeing the animals and gardens. The restaurant on site, Hearth and Vine is amazing and has the best pizza you will ever taste. We were surprised to see Mario Batali there with his family enjoying the pizza! The visit includes all the tastings you want at the winery, the wines are very good. We were so impressed we booked another weekend in the fall!

“nice but worth $400/night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

This is a very nice place, but not worth the $400.00/ night. An a/c unit right outside out bedroom window did not allow for a great night's sleep. Bathroom was waaay too small and the breakfasts were too heavy for my taste, but that was our fault, if we had told them after the first day, I think they would have made us anything we liked. Due to some work they were doing at the inn, we were without hot water for one night, I couldn't shower before dinner, they offered me the sauna room, which would have meant traipsing through the inn with clothes and toiletries in hand. Kelly seemed a little disgruntled overall. I think we'll try Chateau Chantal next time because for my money I'd rather have a view of the water

I do apologize again for the inconvenience of the loss of hot water while you were here. I have to admit that I was a bit 'disgruntled' as you put it. Having hot water to shower is a basic necessity for an Inn's guests, and I was frustrated that I was unable to restore it promptly myself, nor was I able to reach my maintenance man immediately. I did manage to get it back up and running by later that evening, however, I realize that was too late, as you had dinner plans. The staff here strive to make every guest feel comfortable, and I am truly sorry that we were unable to do so in this instance.

“An amazing weekend!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2010

I can't say enough good things about our anniversary weekend stay. It was our first time staying there and after reading several reviews, we thought we would try it out. WOW was the first thing we said when we drove down the entraceway. It was a gorgeous sight - the house, vineyards, stables, and winery tasting room. From the moment we checked in and saw our room we knew we made the right choice. We stayed in the Diadem room and I highly recommend it! It's beautiful fireplace, king bed with the most comforable sheets and large bathroom made it a home away from home. Kelly was the Innskeeper while we were there and she was great. Breakfast each morning was wonderful and sooooo fresh !! WINE hour down in the bar area was alot of fun and we got to meet a great group of people from all over. The tasting room was a great time and we got to taste wines that we would have never thought of tasting. We also visited the tasting room in Traverse City in the Village Commons and they were great as well when they found out we were staying at the Inn.. You are truely treated very special. We will definately return to BSF and have been raving about it to all our friends since we returned. Thank you for a weekend to remember !!!
