“Relaxing”

My husband and I visited the Inn at Black Star Farms in November, 2011 with 3 other couples for our annual wine tasting weekend. We usually stay at Chateau Chantal, which we love, but decided to try the Inn at BSF for a change. Our room, Diadem, was spacious and comfortable, and included a complimentary bottle of wine. The bed and linens were cozy. The only thing missing was a fridge in our room. They did have a community cooler, which we used to store our bloody mary mix and vitamin waters (requisites for veteran wine tasters). The breakfast each day included an egg dish made with some seasonal root vegetables. There was also yogurt, granola, bread and fruit. It was delicious, and a step above the breakfasts we've had at Chateau Chantal. A lounge is located on the first floor of the Inn where guests can go to hang out and have some wine, although the selection is very limited. The staff at the Inn were all very friendly, and went out of their way to make sure we had anything we needed. There is a restaurant on the property, "Hearth and Vine" that I've heard is wonderful, but it was closed while we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and would stay there again. But I must admit we prefer Chateau Chantal for the views and location.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on either side of the Inn. The rooms located in the center get more traffic/noise.

“A True Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

I visited with a friend for a quick getaway. We stayed at three places and this was our first. It was by far the very best in every way. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and given a tour of the Inn. Our room was wonderful. Well appointed, luxury linens, gorgeous fire place, wine in the chiller for us and more. We also had dinner at the Inn. The chefs are very talented making every course an event. We will be both return with our husbands to enjoy the Inn again.

The wine tasting was also well done, with excellent wines and cheeses.

“Amazing place to stay - very romantic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

The rooms were really nice - we stayed two nights and got to check out most of the rooms as some point and they are all amazing. The breakfast was 5 star - not only did it look amazing, but it tasted wonderful. The owner came to breakfast and talked about the winery and how it got started. Very friendly and you were made to feel like family. The grounds are beautiful as well. Great location if you want to go wine tasting in the area. We really enjoyed this wineries wines, but also enjoyed Gill's Pier and Shady Lane wines!

“A Stay to Remember”

My husband and I love the Traverse City area so after we got engaged last summer we visited a handful of venues for our wedding and BSF stood out above the rest. We loved the setting and knew as soon as we saw it that it was where we wanted to get married. We had our ceremony and reception at BSF last weekend with 50+ guests. The staff (especially Kelly and Jill) was very welcoming and went out of their way to make our weekend extraordinary. Our guests are saying it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. A beautiful place to get married!!!
