My three sisters and I were on our "sister trip" on our way to Mackinac. We did get two rooms, both had queen-size beds, micro and refrigerator. Old TVs but good-size screens. For the price, the rooms were acceptable. Coffee and sweet roll in the office in the morning.

We ended up at this place while driving from Detroit to Mackinaw City. Old motel, smallest toilet in the world, anyone taller than 5'9 would have to sit sideways, old stained beds, sheets and towels drenched in fabric softener or Febreeze, I couldn't tell which one. Spiders, my husband got bit by one. Old TV. Only good thing was that the bathroom was clean and it had a great shower.

It is my pleasure to write this unsolicited appraisal of Standish Motel located in Standish, Michigan at 525 North Main Street, Standish, MI 48658 - 989.846.9571. (Located on the north end of Standish just as you round the curve to go to Tawas if you are going north. Do not confuse this motel with another which has a similar name.) I stay here about 12 times a year. The wireless is in all of the rooms and is included with the rate and is very fast and does not require codes to access. The rooms are incredibly clean, do not have the smell of chemicals sometimes associated with motels, the beds are comfortable, the TV's are flat panel and have large screens. The large rooms have a microwave and refrigerator. The owners who live on the premises are friendly, eager to serve, and offer excellent rates. They (the business) do not have a website or email. (I am not certain why.) They are located close to restaurants (including McDonald's), gas stations, a small strip mall, which has a grocery store, cell phone repair, dollar-type stores, etc. Give Standish Motel a try. We spent one night here after visiting the casino. There aren't many places to stay in the area and we picked this because it was convenient and looked well kept-up from the street. Check-in was quick and easy, room was clean and comfortable. Micro and refrigerator were in room, but no coffee pot. That was the only downside, although they did offer coffee and individually wrapped pastry for their continental breakfast. We would stay here again when in the area and recommend it for anyone visiting the area. No reservation, under $60 senior rate.
