This is a good place to stay. Room was clean and spacious but the bathroom had a funny smell. The pillows were small so I suggest that you bring your own. The only problem was that the smokers sat right outside the entrance and you had to walk through there smoke each and everytime you left or entered the building. Also, some of the guests seemed to be "living" there and for some reason this bothered me. Staff were really nice, but we forgot our priority card and they said they would look up our number (no problem) and four days later, they still hadn't gotten our number and given us our points. It was nice to be able to prepare our own food, we even had guests over for dinner one night. They really need a lobby where people can gather and a place for the smokers to sit. I suggest that they convert the green space that is just right of the entrance to a smokers patio, that way you don't have to walk through that smell. We would stay here again because despite the smoking issues, it was affordable and a nice place. Oh, they could use a pool too!

I am a platinum member with Holiday Inn and in the past I love staying at Candlewood Suites and so I felt this would be no different. I arrived late after 1230am and the front desk was closed at 11pm. When this happens they have safes available for people like myself and all you need to do is put in last name and hit enter and there is your key. Not this time - there was nothing in any of the safes and NO ONE answered the phone for 25 minutes! The only way I was able to get in and wait for the person to show up was a security guard who was nice. After waiting the time the person finally showed up and was very rude to me. The next moring the manager is there and I tell her about what happened and she is like oh well sorry and said well normally the keys are in the safe but they are not working and the night person is supposed to take the phone with them but didn't - sorry

This was a great place to stay. Close to 696 & 10 (Lodge) & M39 (Southfield) freeways. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The sheets and bedspread are some sort of special siganture set so they were nice. Quiet. Surrounding neighborhood is OK. I am from this area and was visiting family so I know the area well. To an outsider, the area may seem a bit more sketchy than it actually is. It is in a corporate park area so the hotel is tucked away by the business buildings. One thing to note: because it is a suite, you do not get daily maid service. But you can exchange towels at the front desk. I personally liked the fact no one was in the room when I was gone but I know others like sheets/towels changed daily. If you are looking for clean, comfortable and affordable...this is the place for you.

The property is quiet and in a central location. Several problems with the room: the shower curtain was missing and we couldn't shower until one was located - and then we were told we had to go pick it up at the front desk! We requested a smoking room and had a guaranteed reservation but on arrival we were told there were no Smoking rooms left. We were told to go ahead and smoke in a Non-Smoking room! The worst part: at check-in, the clerk told us he could not print out anything that showed the room rate but he said that we'd be given the rate quoted over the phone. Yet when we went to check-out, we were charged a rate $30/night more than what was quoted. This clerk - "Mark," a different person from when we checked in - was shockingly rude: sneared at us, was openly sarcastic, accused us of lying about the rate we were quoted, refused to give his last name. To make matters worse, when the credit card bill arrived, we were charged twice for this stay. I would not return.
