I doubt that this hotel would advertise itself as a romantic get away, but that is precisely what it has become for me and my wife. It must be 30 years old, and maybe more, and that has allowed the lovely landscape plantings in the inner courtyard to mature. The plantings are beautiful. Also beautiful are the lovely marble or granite countertops on the main lobby desk and in main floor rest rooms. You don't usually see anything that nice in hotels by the interstate. Rooms are large and comfortable, but lack microwaves and refrigerators. The somewhat pricey breakfast buffet is well worth the $ 10 to $ 12 charged, but see if you can get it included as a special deal in the price of your room. There is a sauna, a hot tub, and a small lap pool. Very pleasant, and not usually overrun with middle school kids screaming and splashing water on everyone within a 20 foot radius. Very good coffee houses and eating places nearby, including some excellent ethnic options. On a more serious note, the Detroit area's excellent holocaust museum is just a few miles away. Several major malls are very nearby. The mall nearest the hotel is about 30 years old and is getting run down, but a large chunk of it is being redevoloped for a new WalMart. This hotel does a large convention business, which makes it less romantic, but which also serves to hold down the number of middle school kids that can make the pool area so boisterous.
