We chose this for a one night stopover on our leisurely way from Brittany to the Dordogne. The house is beautiful, one has the run of various sitting rooms, the lovely gardens and the use of the heated outdoor pool. Our own room was very pleasant with a swish modern bathroom. We were also made very welcome by the owners.
However it transpired that they had only just returned from holiday, and we were the only guests - both of which may have had an impact on the quality of the food.
We were asked if we wanted to dine in or go to a restaurant. Not driving any further sounded like a good idea so we asked for the table d'hote. Only later did we find out we would be dining alone in a romantic/gloomy (depending on your point of view) candle-lit dining room. The meal was 4 courses: a salad with stuffed vine-leaves, so far so good, quaill with french beans - massively overcooked french beans; a 'selection' of three tiny pieces of cheese - no choice, a dessert that consisted of three pieces of shop-bought brownie sitting on top of cliced strawberries with a little pot of shop-bought custard. And coffee. Very disappointing, and at 48 Euroes each grossly overpriced. That didn't include the wine.
Breakfast was no better - the croissant and pain-au-chocolat were stale and warmed over and the bread was so stale and reheated that it exploded into crumbs in ones moth. The coffee and the (home made) yoghurt were good though.
So - our advice - enjoy the house and the gardens, but skip the catering. Following advice from earlier reviews we gave the mini-bar a wide berth too.
So, a 4 star place let down by the catering.
