Hotel Tamaris simply IS as described below! Cozy and Charming. There are no big suprises to be expected, therefore there will be no big disappointments. The Breakfast is acceptable, the rooms are clean, the staff is nice and the location splendid (town-center, near ferry and beach) and the price is also ok !
You won´t make a mistakee with choosing Hotel Tamaris - since the most important thing to see is actually the Island VIS. it is breathtaking! GO!

There are only four proper hotels on Vis, and this is probably the best, but that doesn't mean it's wonderful!

From the outside, it's an attractive building right in the middle of the main waterfront area in Vis Town. I had what seemed to be the best room, in the middle of the first floor with lovely views over the bay and towards the monastery.

There's a terrace on the ground floor along the front of the hotel where you can have lunch or just a drink and sit and watch the boats tie up at the quayside. So far so good, you're probably thinking...

The downside of this hotel is that its interior is badly in need of updating. Although I had presumably the best room in the hotel, it gave the impression that it hadn't been touched by a decorator for 30 or 40 years. The furnishings were completely uninspiring and the bathroom was very old-fashioned. But...everything worked...it's not expensive...so you get what you pay for.

The staff are adequate but don't go out of their way to be friendly, and the whole place has an aura of the State run hotel that it used to be. But, it was an experience!
