Planet Bhaktapur Hotel is a very quiet, relaxing, clean and peaceful hotel not far from Kathmandu. It is a welcome change to the chaotic atmosphere of Kathmandu and is located within a short distance to the township of Bhaktapur. The staff at Planet are very friendly, accommodating and made us feel most welcome. The rooms are serviced daily, they are very spacious, clean and during the night very quiet. We were welcomed with a complementary drink and a warm discussion about what we wanted to get out of our stay in Bhaktapur. The staff were very helpful in providing knowledge of the area and things to see and do. The food is brilliant and for us the highlight of our stay! The hotel is surrounded by gardens with tables and chairs and provide the perfect environment for rest and relaxation; here there are also nice views of Kathmandu valley. We certainly have no hesitations in recommending Planet Bhaktapur.

i think the cost is a bit too high for what you get -

?no phone in the room that can be used to call outside? wanna call your bud in KTM to meet for breakfast? you have to trundle down to the front door in yr jamies

a lonnngggg wait for hot water if you create a 'Nepali hot water to price' ratio: pB is way off

a really limited bar - esp for a partially Italian place ( ;>) can't even get the LOCAL vodka ('white mischief' - i love that name)

and, frankly, after being REALLY excited about what floated around my head as possible delicious combinations of Nepali- Italian food (to para-?think Calvin Trillin who wondered why God hadn't created an Italian West Indies...) planet Bhaktapur's menu was EXACTLY like many of the bar-food-27-7 joints in the older part of town;
a classic? included "America ChopSuey" (pronounced "merican chaa-suu") was a truly disgusting pile of noodles, slices / chopped of deli meats, multiple sauces - (ketchup?)
topped by an over-fried egg.

The Planet Bhaktapur Hotel is a very clean, quiet and friendly oasis away from the dirt and chaos of Kathmandu, yet close enough by taxi to see that city. The hotel is located only a ten minute walk from the World Heritage Site of old Bhaktapur. We used the hotel as a base from which to do several day hikes in preparation for a trek in the Himalayas.

The wonderful, informative hotel director, Yam Tamilsina, explained how and where to catch local buses to the outlying villages. He also arranged an excursion to Royal Chitwan National Park for us that turned out to be fabulous.

The Italian owner of the hotel, Francesco, made us feel very welcome and we happily returned to the hotel several times during our month in Nepal. Each time we returned it was to a friendly welcome from the whole staff - we have to mention Martin and Jack, our attentive waiters, who made dining interesting. The Newari and Italian food was delicious and could be taken in the dining room or in the courtyard. We do not hesitate to recommend this hotel for its helpful and friendly service.

Nepal is a wonderful country, but if you want to make your travel even more rich, you can't miss the "Planet". A little piece of paradise just thirty minutes by car from the huge Kathmandu, and few minutes walking from the beautiful village of Bhaktapur. The Planet Hotel, with Francesco and his employees Yam, Martin, Jack and all the guys will welcome you with kindness and hospitality... It's impossible not to feel at home! The food is delicious, rooms big, clean and confortable, and the staff is amazing!!
