“Superb hospitality in a great setting and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

We cannot speak too highly of this lodge, which was immaculate and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were very friendly and professional. The decor was very stylish and our room was extremely well appointed and comfortable. The gardens were lovely and wildlife and birds visited. The meals too were excellent. The location is perfect for exploring Etosha either independently or with the wonderful guide employed by the lodge. We will definitely return.

“A very nice lodge with a family atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

We spent two nights at Mushara Lodge. The place was well set out and had a very nice ambience. The rooms were very well kept and clean. We particularly liked the thatched roof.
Our meals were very nice and the lodge had the best wine selection out of all the places we had stayed in Namibia. All the staff were lovely. They were kind and helpful. One thing which makes Mushara Lodge stand out from the rest is that after dinner all the staff come out and sing songs for you which is very interesting if not a bit awkward for some. Our only criticisms are that we felt it was quite far away from Etosha National Park and that the swimming pool is dangerously cold. All in all though Mushara Lodge is a lovely place which I would definitely recommmend

“Amazing place with Kudu and Warthogs joining us for Dinner !!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Etosha national park.

The lodge is ideally situated for visiting the eastern side of Etosha being only 10 mins from one of the gates.

We arrived to a very warm welcome and were shown to our room. The rooms are thatched bungalows arranged in a horseshoe shape around the central area. They have a terrace with a table and chairs, the room itself was very spacious with a large bed with mossie net and a small seating area. There was a seperate bathroom (a little dated) all were spotlessly clean and very well decorated. All rooms felt very private.

A short walk to the main complex is a large swimming pool - unheated so yes rather cold but wonderfully refreshing. There were lots of loungers and large comfortable shaded seating areas. Kudu, Dik dik and Warthogs wandered through the camp freely, there is a warning that lion also visit the farm but we so no evidence of this !

Dinner was served outside on the terrace, suprisingly the temparature did not drop too much in the evening so this was a welcome touch. Also who can complain about dining surrounded by wildlife (that isn't going to eat you !). Dinner was a set menu and the food was of a very high standard. Very romantic setting.

On 2 mornings we ordered a breakfast pack. Wow what a feast ! Sandwhiches, yoghurt, cereal, egg, water and a flask of coffee and milk kept us going thats for sure !!!
Only snag was they forgot our wake up call !

The main bar area was very large and spacious and beautifully decorated in 'african' style. Lots of seating areas, but a large group did fidn sitting all together a little tricky but fine for groups of 2 - 6.

In comparison to the other lodges we found the guests kept themselves to themsleves not much social interaction. The staff however were very friendly 'truly excellent'.

As a side note we had hired a guide / driver for our trip around Namibia who was initially furious to discover he had been placed at the 'outpost' and not in the same lodge. However he later confirmed that it was the best guide accommodation that he had stayed in EVER and so was very happy for the remainder of the stay ! So if you want a happy guide and driver you know where to stay.

“Mosquito heaven”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2010

We had very mixed experiences. Our visit coinciding with my wife’s birthday, we oldies were in the Villa – which was a truly wonderful if expensive experience .

But the children were in a very run down hut with a broken bathroom door, which was crawling with mosquitoes . As was the dining room – which is open to the elements - where at breakfast time the jams contained more mozzies than fruit. What is so irritating is that the times the management choose to water (not just sprinkle) the lawns ends up by simply exacerbating their mosquito problem.
Despite copious spraying we all ended up being bitten to pieces in the public rooms, as well as in the children’s room. The staff were delightful, and the food really pretty good. But we ended up thinking this place needs serious investment to bring it back to a reasonable standard.

“Great stopover--wish we had one more night at this lovely little resort”

Mushara Lodge: Highly Recommended. We were only here only one night, but we loved this lodge. We were given the immense family house—complete with a little playground, huge living room, kitchen, two bedrooms AND two and ½ bathrooms! The only negative were the other guests—they were all so stuffy. Luckily there was one cute baby who helped make some of the guests actually smile. We could have unwound here for one more day. Kids loved the pool and we saw our first warthogs lounging by the pool.
