This hotel is 1 mile off the interstate which should have alerted me. It is surrounded by liquor stores, pawn shops and a junk yard. When I arrived, the building was not lit, the windows were dark and only 5 cars were in the parking lot (Bates Hotel?). I apparently woke up the clerk when I came in. Another guy was leaving. Either this was because he was a pimp or they have weekly rental clientele (another warning sign). The ruffled clerk gave me the key to the 2nd floor which smelled like a cigar store (which is fine by me since I love cigars but others might not). The smoke-free room is smoky, the clock was unplugged and the remote only works if you shake it like a martini mixer while switching the channels. The internet is wireless and free but I'm worried about what viruses I'm getting. I'm also worried if I'm going to get my throat slit tonight. Oh well, at least I'll get a few hours sleep before then.
