“I've been three times and oh my!”

I'm a military veteran. I've slept in vehicles and on the ground for years. I would rather sleep in the parking lot than at this hotel. Here's the information:

A group of 150 people (75 rooms) booked a buy out to this establishment. We do this once a month and while a terrific group of adults, the parties are loud, last all night, and get adult themed rowdy. That's why we buy out the hotel. The hotel decided it was safe and wise to put a family of 5 in the middle of the party area. We complained, the manager refused to work with us and the potential for mental harm to the children was very likely. After talking with a very angry mother, making her some deals, and paying for relocation, the group of customers were able to move the family.

Management: Although available (came to our private party way too much.), was unwilling to accomodate simple request like heat and water (yes it was missing). His quote was if you were the manager what would you do?

Workforce: Not trained at all, butt willing to work. Cleaning crew were all related to manager and had a difficult time communicating with the handful of rooms that were even occupied.

Rooms: We were staying for three days and were given two towels. Old 1970's furniture and orange carpeting and drapes that could tell too many stories, I'm sure.

Location: Perfect for us, however it is at the junction of two highways---not much traffic noise. This is actually a positive.

Bottome line: we will not return to this establishment unless absolutely necessary. rude rude rude management.

Room Tip: Look across the street at another hotel.

“Home away from Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

I spent the month of November at this hotel while I was working in Lansing. The room I was given was clean and very comfortable. It had all the amenities that I needed, a small refrigerator and microwave. The Atrium pool area was incredible. The live trees were giving housekeeping some grief since it was fall but I saw housekeeping vacumming the falling leaves everyday. Breakfast was nice for a contentintal breakfast. The staff was friendly and courteous the entire time I was there. When my wife and son came to visit one weekend the staff brought a rollaway into my room and made my family feel welcome.

“We left and went to Quality Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

I wish I would have read the reviews prior to booking with Hotels.com......I have been to Day's Inn all over and some in VERY remote areas and NEVER had any issues. My husband and I were horrified by the condition of the rooms ( we went to 3 different ones prior to just leaving without a refund). The third room still had a faint musty/mildew smell but we thought we'd be able to make it through one night until I went into the bathroom and saw the muddy tub with hair, etc. I am happy to say that for $20 more we were able to stay at the quality inn on the other side of the street which also included a hot breakfast in the morning. DO NOT waste your money with this hotel. I guess we paid NOT to stay here....

Room Tip: Pictures of the rooms are not a true representation of the actual rooms.

“Comfy beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

I stayed at the Days Inn while visiting some friends in Lansing. I chose the hotel for its good price and location, but I was surprised to see how nice it was. They have a cool atrium with a great pool and hot tub and they had free breakfast in the morning. The beds were really comfy too. It was a lot nicer than I had expected.

Room Tip: I really enjoyed my poolside room

“Just say NO!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

I booked this hotel through priceline for $30/night and stayed for 2 nights. I read the online reviews AFTER booking which I will never do again! I sucked it up anyway and decided for $30 maybe it wouldn't be too bad. I was wrong! I also learned that priceline does not give refunds so after buying a bottle of Lysol, I did stay the second night.
The lobby is nice and the two males at the front desk (one guy was named Chad) were both friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to try and make my stay good but there was nothing they could do for the rest of this hotel except tear it down. The main hotel floor is musty and dingy...lighting is dull and not inviting at all. The carpets and tables around the atrium area were wet from the water coming in through the ceiling. The pool was out of order and the hot tub was cloudy. I never did see if it worked as the power in the pool/hot tub area kept going out. The workout room has one...yes ONE weight, a bike that does not work, and a nice treadmill. The treadmill was probably still nice since there was no key to turn it on and Chad was not able to find it anywhere. Again, kudos to Chad for looking everywhere and trying to help! Heading to my room I find a elevator that is scary, dirty, and does not appear safe. The tiles are broken and loose on the floor, it makes some seriously scary noises, and has no safety or inspection stickers anywhere! The floors to my room were dirty and once I made it through my old, sticking door, I found a room! The floors were dirty, the table was dirty, and the phone was sticky. The bathroom had hair on the floor and the top bedsheet had stains on it. The bed was comfortable once it was covered in lysol so I could try it out....although a couple cigarette burns were on the mattress, it was still comfy.
I could go on and on but I won't. There are no working ice machines except on the main floor and only one pop machine that was empty. I could have stayed somewhere else, and I will next time. I just could not believe a national chain would allow their name to stay on a hotel this disgusting. No more Days Inn for me!!

If you can suck it up and stay at the nasty for $30 a night don't forget a bottle or two of lysol, never take your shoes off, and brig flip flops to shower in!!

Room Tip: The only tip I can give is to choose a room at another hotel.
