My husband, 16 year old son and I stayed at the “beach house” property at the Chandler House on Commercial St. We really enjoyed staying here. It is a small one bedroom (attached) cottage with kitchenette, full bathroom, small living room and wonderful waterside deck. This is the best location of all because it’s on the water, WITH a parking spot, it is at the quiet East End of PTown and yet still walkable and bike-able to everything. The cottage is small but adorable and filled with modern yet quaint touches. The bedroom has an air conditioner, ceiling fan and storage drawers within the bed. There are nautical style sliding doors separating the bedroom from the bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom is quite modern with corner toilet, glass tiled shower, large shower head, stainless steel “bowl” sink and tilting mirror. There is a port hole in the kitchen that looks into the bedroom. The kitchenette is filled with more gadgets and serve-ware than you could ever think of using. In the living room, there is a comfortable pull out couch, WORKING fireplace, reading nook, small table with 4 chairs and sliding glass door out to the deck. And the deck is what makes it so special – right over the water and gorgeous views of PTown harbor and the whole bay. There is a small table and 2 chairs along with 2 lounge chairs on your private deck. There are also 4 more lounge chairs on the shared deck next to the cottage and 2 high top tables with chairs for enjoying snacks and drinks. You can’t ask for more!! The cottage is ideal for 2 people - a third makes it essential to use the pull out couch which limits space in the open area, but we made do for a 3 night stay. One minor complaint – there was a mattress pad for the pull out bed that was covered in some kind of pet hair. I brought it to the attention of the manager and they brought us a new one immediately. All in all, a wonderful stay – the property owner / managers are really doing something right. We would come back here in a heartbeat. Three things would have made our stay all the more perfect:
A hair dryer – I never bring one along on trips because mostly all hotels and rental properties supply one. I would have brought my own if I had known there wouldn’t be one.
There was a TV in the family room but it was very small and it was not cropped properly – parts of the screen were cut off and viewing was impaired. I know you shouldn’t be watching TV while visiting the cape, but we are football fans and were watching a little of the Sunday evening game on opening weekend.
There is a set of large, iron stackable coffee tables in the living room. It is hard to move them and being made of iron, they are leaving rust stains on the carpet. They are just unnecessary to such a small unit.
