We're usually stuck taking vacation at the end of August, because my wife teaches summers at a University. We always try to stay at Seasons when in P-town. Once again John accomodated our schedule! 2011 was interesting, as Hurricane Irene decided to blow through while we were there, prompting "Irene blows P-town" T shirts!
Only 2 of the other guests decided to split a day ahead of Irene's projected landing. The rest of us rather quickly decided to combine our food & alcohol and have a "Hurricane Party". What a hoot! We didn't really know the other guests, but John's hospitable nature made us feel like we were brothers & sisters! John graciously let us "commandeer" the Dining Room for our spread; we even had a bartender! John made sure every room had a flashlight for venturing around in the dark; what a good "big brother"!
P-town was pitched into darkness as the power venues were no match for Irene. There was some wind, but not too much rain, as I recall. Greetings of "Happy Hurricane" greeted every Commercial Street visitor. Probably one of the more memorable stays here.
Oh, and did I mention the delectible breakfasts?
