Arrived after an awful journey to get the most fantastic welcome and service. The guy behind the counter was freindly, helpful, accomodating, even ordered us dinner while we got settled and played barkeep while we ate. Never had better service! The motel is a little dated, but we like the retro feel family run style. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Thank you Whittier Motel! Thank you Pickles!

Very outdated, below average cleanliness. Carpet was heavily stained as was the bathroom sink and tub. Fixtures and heating baseboard were rusted. Office is a clue as to what you're getting...cluttered with owner's "stuff". Would never stay here again.

I needed a place to stay between closing my old house and moving into my new house.
Just a few weeks between moves.
For $300 a week you shouldn't complain, but...
1) The rug is filthy.
2) No screens on the windows.
3 No safety chain on the door.
4) Very dark bathroom, hard to see in shower.
5) It's 95 Degrees out today and they refuse to turn the Air Conditioning on.

I ended up here for Halloween because everything near Salem (where I was visiting for non-Halloween reasons) was booked solid. I was pleasantly surprised. Clean, comfortable, basic. What you would expect in this kind of old-timey motel, but nothing to complain about.
