Overview: The staff goes out of their way to take care of you. Vera who works during the breakfast buffet is a superstar and a truly wonderful person -- she will take care of your every need. Hotel is new so rooms are clean, nice and very comfortable. Internet is fast and business area has multiple computers to work from. Breakfast is standard Hampton and they continue to change up the hot items so it's not the same thing over and over again. The hot cookies (take a few) are a nice touch.
We stated 5 nights (wife and I) as I attended business and we also wanted to see the sites. Location of hotel is approx 5 miles from the mall (lots of restaurants) and 4 miles to a grocery store. We selected hotel based upon business location and also close to Concord/Lexington and historical sites. We traveled up to Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine and around the Boston area. It's about a 20-minute drive into Boston and you go against the mass amount of traffic leaving Boston during the end-of-the-day. So plan accordingly if in Boston, and you choose to stay and try and come back to the hotel during rush hour. My advice is have another drink, eat some food and see another piece of history and let the traffic subside.
There is a restauruant within 2-minute walk from the lobby (Cuban, Latin, Steaks) and was busy most nights. Other than that there is no restaurants to choose from unless you walk across the street to the Doubletree and eat there. We did neither. So you will need a car. Hotel has a shuttle that will take you anywhere in a 5-mile radius so you can get to the mall and the many (Legal Seafoods, etc) other eating establishments. The gym is quite small and has 4 cardio machines, some dumbells and a multi-purpose machine for weight training.
Tip: Go visit Concord & Lexington; if in Boston go to the Samuel Adams Brewery, take the free tour and then go to Doyle's (1st place they were able to sell their beer too) and have dinner -- get a beer and you get the special Samual Adams beer glass for free. The North End of Boston is always a treat, especially the Italian section and restaurants -- all good. Want great seafood, drive up to Rockport, MA and go to Bearskin Neck (section of Rockpart) and eat at Roy Moore Lobster Company -- local and awesome. You walk into the kitchen, order your food and then take it ou to their sitting area.
Tip: If in Gloucester, go to the Crow's Nest Bar (was in the movie Perfect Storm), have a beverage of your choice, and talk to Gregg who is the owner -- ask to see his pictures of the Hollywood Stars he knows and were in his bar during the filming -- get him to tell you the stories of working & hanging-out with George Clooney. Also meet the locals sitting around the bar -- that was a treat to hear the fishing stories. Gregg has more in common with the Pefect Storm than you know -- if he tells you the connection, you will be amazed as we were.
