We be ole folks, so excuse any grammatical, arthritic typing errors.
We travel a lot. thus wife and I know good service when we see it, from diamond quality and five star to just somewhere to sleep-off-the-highway. We needed comfort near Washington D.C.
From the time we arrived, the service at Waldorf Country Inn & Suites By Carlson proved excellent. We got in from Dulles around three o'clock a.m. having been lost. Our room was ready.Bathrooms, modern with coffee pot (so many have done away with that), and accessible for us ole folk.
Coffee in the lobby as well as tea. when we needed instructions, the front desk management, Theresa (spelling) and Kim, later, readily printed such out for the next days. A daily free newspaper is available.
The internet room-which was free was still open. There was a gym, exercise room and pool also available for use, although we old folks could not negotiated same.
Having traveled as a former professional musician and later as a lawyer, I would rank accomodations right up there with the old Waldorf Astoria in the '70s, and the Los Angeles Biltmore (before Milleniumn das).
Evelyn (thin that's the pantry lady) fare was filling--also included, in the mornings,w ith a large screen tv on to fil us in with the days news and even weather.
Housekeeping staff, Amelia (supervisor) and Maria--ready to fulfill your wishes. But the kicker? A relatively inexpensive laundromat at the end of the hall on the first floor. Quiet, too!
We hope nobody else discovers this gem before we get back, which we definitely shall.
Washington travel note: It took some time, but we had to discover the Branch Ave metro station (about 30 minutes up the road).A gas station is right behind the motel, which has safe parking.
Oh a bonus--Walmart about 1/8 mile across the street (open till about midnight). Other large stores-- about 5 miles away, Staples, CVS (This is the South, where a country block is a country block). If one doesn't mind being out of Washington someways, this is a definite yes! YES! YES!
WARNING-AVOID FLYING INTO DULLES. Quite difficult to negotiate the highways to Waldorf. Reagan would be preferable.
Room Tip: Rent a car. Metro about 30 minutes away (Branch Ave station-end of the line), Watch the parkway free...
