“great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

stayed here on the way to the beach. front desk staff was so helpful and friendly. this hotel had a big cooler of iced waters in lobby. such a nice idea. breakfast bar was a little hectic but expected. every one trying to get on the road. fresh fruit out all evening. quiet. nice indoor pool, game area for the kids. definately will stop again. place was full. no vacancy. very close to many places to eat and to shop.

“Great value on way to OBX”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We were looking for an overnight stay during a vacation trip between our home in MA and the OBX. I had 6 people so was looking for something reasonably priced, clean, and that included breakfast. This hotel fit the bill exactly. The rooms were clean, the breakfast not fancy but good, and the price competitive. I found the staff helpful in pointing us towards places to eat and shop that evening.

We didn't experience any of the issues that others have complained about. We saw no mess - the place was clean. There was a ton of traffic on that weekend as well, lots of families and kids groups (sporting events etc).

Salisbury is one of the last "big" stops before the Virginia Beach area going south so it's a popular spot to stay.

I'd certainly stay here again. If I was on business, I might prefer something more upscale, but then again I wouldn't be paying for it either :-).

Room Tip: Stayed on the first floor off the lobby, very convenient and not noisy at all. Even on a busy weeke...

“A ton of little annoyances add up to one big headache!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

I've stayed here twice now for work, and I am not impressed! This is the worst off all the Hampton Inn's I've ever stayed at. The rooms, hallways, and elevator smell like smoke, even in the nonsmoking rooms. My bathtub was old and skeevy. I got ripped off in not one, not 2, but 3 soda machines one after another - you could literally die of thirst trying to get a bottle of water in this place. The exercise room is a joke. The elliptical machine is just there for show, as there is no actual working ramp or resistance on it. Not just once, but BOTH times I've stayed here, I've had multiple issues with my room keys working, either blocking me from accessing my room or the pool/fitness facilities. This is a real nightmare when lugging around a suitcase and a week's worth of supplies up 3 flights, only to find your key doesn't work. As this hotel seems popular for business stays, mini fridges in the room would be a real help. I had to throw out over $40 worth of groceries that I had bought for my lunches/drinks for the week upon discovering there was no fridge. The iron was so difficult to find that I went without for 3 before discovering it in a hidden closet that I mistook for a wall mirror. My only plus is that my air conditioner worked exceptionally well.

“More a Motel than a Hampton Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

We stayed at many Hampton Inns in the last years, but this is the worst we have ever have been. They are taking amazing high prices during the weekend. There was no robust coffee available all the time. In the morning the breakfast room was completely overcrowded and dirty. The pool and the relaxing area were also dirty and need urgently a renovation. The ashtrays were full all the time. We will never stay again in this "Hotel".

“A Comfortable Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2011

My wi fe and I stayed here on the second night of an 8 week auto/air/boat trip. The check-in reception was very quick and efficient. The room was generous size with a sofa and work area. It was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and had very good pressure in the shower. I had my best night's sleep in several days, here. The bed was very comfortable. There was a manager's "cocktail party" that I stumbled upon. A nice light spread of fresh vegetables, cheese and crackers and miniature sandwiches were offered. Beer and soda were the beverages offered. The breakfast had waffles, cheese omelet, turkey sausage, several cold cereals, fruit and muffins and danish. It was a very good overnight stay.
