“Cockroach and Mold”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

This was horrible. Smelled like mushrooms which has to be mold somewhere. Dirty boxers were found under the sink in thte bathroom and socks were under the bed. A huge thousand legger was found by the air conditioner. A plastic shopping bag was wrapped over the smoke detector. The vent in the bathroom was missing the cover and exposed about and half inch of pure dust and scum. One out of 6 lights worked, the rest were burnt out. My fellow tenants and I were going to tough all this out and stay the weekend untill I found a COCKROACH crawling beside me in the bed. We lifted up the matress to reveal more roaches. The matress said Mariot on it which means it was used and extra soiled. We decided to confront the manager. We brought the COCKROACH down to him and he was amused by it and decided to begin playing with it like a pet. He then came up with bug spray and suggested he spray the beds and the floors. I told him to get out and refund me my money. He did not like that and we argued for a while. He went back down to his office. I decided to walk back down to the office where I found a forgien boy sitting behind the desk, I asked him where the manager was and he said he went home for the night, this was 2 minutes after he was in my room. I said I was going to call the police and then suddenly the manager appears from a back closet where he was hiding. I demanded a refund. I stayed 1 night at this point and paid for 3 at 200 each night which is 600 total. He finally gave me 200 as a refund and told me to get out. He also told me that I brought to COCKROACH from home so I could get a free nights stay. This place is a joke and I am currently working with the health department to get it closed down.

Room Tip: Avoid the Sea Cove

“DO NOT STAY HERE!! ROACH infested”

Me my boyfriend and another couple last minute wanted to go down to the beach July 4th weekend this was the only place available and it was the cheapest for the holiday weekend 199 a couple per night. This place is absoutly disgusting!!!!! It is not worth a penny I would rather sleep in my car. First we got there and of course it is very outdated there walls are disgusting and I guarentee have mold in them because the pungent smell of model right when you walk in the room almost takes your breathe away..

The place is dirty sand everywHere looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The headboard is not even attached to the bed it is screwed into the wall. The sheets are stained and dirty. The most unsanitary place I have ever seen in my entire life. Under the the bathroom sink were a pair of dirty boxers and wash cloths and the bathroom sink was all moldey abd orange. To make matters even worse we found a cockroach in the bed crawling around, and where there's one there's many either living in the walls or the mattresses. Ewwwwww needless to say we left that night and brought the cockroach down to the front desk. The owner is a lowlife scam artist and instead we put it there so we could get our money back we told him we were going to call the police and he instead to go up to our room and spray his bug spray which is disgusting. We demanded our money back and he ran out of our room and we went back to down and his kid was trying to tell us he left and we had to argue that we knew he didn't and he finally came out the back closet and give us 199 dollars when we paid 600 threw it at us and we left NEVER STAY HERE IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!! Disgustinggggggggggggggggg

“Don't stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

A friend of mine booked this hotel so I had no idea what I was in for. It's in a good location, but that's about all that can be said for it. There isn't any curb appeal, and the rooms inside are even worse. There is sand everywhere - in the beds, on the floors, you can't escape it. We were walking around with our shoes on because it was so uncomfortable after a while. As someone else mentioned, there is no cleaning service while you stay there, and there doesn't seem to be much cleaning service done in between stays either. The decor is very old. There is a box unit for the AC that is very loud, but it did keep the room cold. The bathroom is small and dated. A few of the lights burned out in the room. There is no way to get the room dark at night because there is a window above the door with no curtain and there are bright lights in the halls. Also the curtain itself didn't close all the way either. My single biggest complaint would have to be that there are no dead bolts on the door. I was really uncomfortable with this lack of security. We didn't have any trouble getting more towels from the front desk, but the owner was not there so maybe that is why. The towels were so small and threadbare that you needed two per person. There were a lot of teenagers staying here for senior week when I was here so they were hanging out in the halls a lot, but thankfully not too noisy at night. This is definitely not a good place to come with the family or if you really want to relax and enjoy yourself since there is no comfort to be found at this hotel.

“A pleasant surprise in an emergency!”

We had to leave our home for the week (plumbing repair) and travel with two cats. I found the listing for Sea Cove under pet-friendly hotels and decided I had no time to waste making a reservation at less than two weeks notice. I have a 7 year old son who had never been to the beach before, as well. I called and had a reservation in no time, check in was a breeze, and our room was excellent. I lived in town for a while a few years back and had an apartment that was very comparable. The staff was extremely helpful every time we needed something. The management was terrific and very nice. If you are expecting wall-to-wall carpeting and fine decor at the beach, you are sadly mistaken...that's why you pay so much up the street!!! Frankly, a clean room, a clean bed, and a shower are all you need at the beach. How long are you honestly in the room on vacation? I'd rather have shopping money:D Great place on the cheap!!!

“You get what you pay for...in this case, bugs.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

Our first impression was that the staff was very nice and though the hotel did not have nice "curb appeal" I knew that I was going to get a less than 3 star experience because I paid $179 per night. When we walked in the room, the kids immediately noted that it smelled like fungus or wet mushrooms. We hung up a car freshener in the hopes to mask the smell. We spent the day at the beach (was only 1 block away - the only plus about the trip). After returning we settled into bed. After being startled awake by the fire engine passing by at 3:45 AM, I checked on the kids. I saw a bug crawling near my son's head, so I caught it. I didn't know what it was, so I got on the internet and looked at some pictures. It looked like a bed bug, so I pulled back the sheets and found MORE in the places that the health department website said to look. I took the ones that I caught down to the front desk, and the clerk told me I'd have to wait until the owner got in at 9:15am. I waited until he got there, and showed him what I had found. He accused me of bringing them in and trying to get a free night's stay. He also said his hotel had never had bugs before. This of course, did not make me happy. He offered to have his staff clean the room next door and let us move, but we had to immediately move everything out of that room so he could send an exterminator in. We moved everything out and waited for an hour for the cleaning crew to finish. As soon as we moved out, a man came in with large trash bags and a large white bottle with a hose and sprayer attached. He shut the curtains and locked the door, so I'm assuming he was attempting to kill the bugs. The room we moved into had obviously been scrubbed with bleach, which made me feel a little better, but not good enough to stay. I chalked it up as a loss and we left Ocean City early. You get what you pay for, but I certainly didn't expect to pay for bed bugs
