“okay place to stay”

The first floor room overlooked the boardwalk, which was nice. The first morning, very early I might add, someone was BANGING on our sliding glass door and woke us up. When we answered the door, the man just walked away saying nothing !?!
The a/c was okay, but could have been cooler. The bath was small, but functional.
We had a frig and microwave, but didn't use them.
We stayed a week, and when we needed clean towels, after the second and third day of using the same ones,we had to ask for them, along with rolls of toilet tissue. The room had NOT BEEN CLEANED and when we returned in the evening, our beds still weren't made . On the fourth day, the maid came in and we were sitting on the front patio, she asked "IF WE WANTED OUR ROOM CLEANED!" I said , "YES!!!!" so she looked around and obviously didn't see the sand we drug in and came back and asked "if we wanted our beds made too! DUH!?! I told her we also needed clean towels....when I came into the room, I found them laying on the bed, not hanging in the bathroom. She NEVER cleaned our room or bathroom, just picked up our dirty towels, made the bed (half) and left the towels. I thought daily housekeeping meant....DAILY CLEANING! We will not stay there again....we found cheaper hotels in the area that gave better service.

“Worse Hotel "EVER"”

When I first entered the room - "I wanted to run". Something was splatterd on the wall, the smell was bad, the a/c unit leaked, the bathroom was so so so small, the rug was damp (kept my shoes on). This hotel is not a clean hotel. Needs so much work. I don't mind old, but it was not clean. It was old and dirty! I saw one customer standing outside her room, due to the a/c unit leaking and it left a huge amount of water by their door.

“The Absolute Worst Hotel For An Outrageous Price!!!!!!!!!!”

We arrived a day early for our vacation and needed to find a room for the night. This place offered us what they called "an ocean front suite"! The price was more than waht we wanted to spend ($400.00 for one night), but we thougth we would live it up a little with a nice room. Wow, were we in for a big surprise! First, there is only one evelator even for the maid service. So trying to get an evelvator can take a very long time. Then we finally get to our room and it was just nothing like we expected. The bathrooms were only big enough to fit one person at a time and even that was pushing it. There was a used bottle of mouthwash in the bathroom. That is just unacceptable and gross! The carpets were filthy. The air conditioner didn't really work and each room had it's own air conditioner over the door so outside was very noisy. There was a sleeper sofa but we pulled it out for our kids and I couldn't even kneel on it because it was so flimsy and it hurt. The beds in our so called suite were only double beds. My husband is 6'1" - He takes up a whole bed to himself. These are just a few of the many things wrong with this hotel!! I will never ever ever stay there again.

“Dissapointing from the start to finish due to their service”

I would not recommend anyone booking in advance to stay here. They tell you one thing and then when its time you get there and check in they give you what room they have left and tell you your reservation was for what they make of it and say thats what they had in their computer from your reservation. The service was very poor. The maid skipped our room two of the four days we stayed there. When we told them about it they said the maids left and there was nothing else they could do and to come down and get new towels. The manager was very rude when I checked in and told them they made a mistake with our reservation even after I showed him our confirmation number of what room we were supposed to have. Besides the hotel everything else was awesome the boardwalk, food and attractions were alot of fun especially the beach if I ever go again I will make sure I stay at a better hotel.

“Better than previous reviews lead you to believe...”

We just got back from a 3-day weekend at this 24th-street HoJo's and although the bathrooms ARE very small - you can't open/close the door if you sit on the toilet - and the sink is literally only about 10 inches across - we stayed in an ocean front room on the boardwalk for two nights and three days for a little over $400.00. The pool was exceptionally clean and felt great, , you are literall across the boardwalk from the beach, and there is an excellent little restaurant called the Satellite Cafe adjacent to the otel. There is only one elevator, but it is comparable to any other elevator we've used in OC - a little slow but steady.

Regardless where I stay I don't normally expect to have someone hand-deliver extra towels in less than an hour unless I am paying a premium for my room. When we arrived, we noticed only a single wash cloth in the bathroom so I went down to the front desk and asked for not only extra washcloths, but towels and an extra set of sheets for the sleep sofa and had them in my hand within 30 seconds. They do keep extras in a room behind the front desk and had no problem giving me additional.

We encountered no rudeness at all. The front desk was polite the five times I stopped by. When asked if they provided an after checkout changing room, they said they were not so equipped, however they did offer the use of their public bathroom to change. They also said we could use the pool after checkout and could leave our car parked in their parking lot until we chose to leave, none of which were publicized on the web site, but were graciously and politely offered when we asked. The cleaning people said Good morning or Hello when we saw them, and excuse me and thank you when we passed them in the hallways. Although there was some less than spotless areas in our room, you are at the beach for goodness sake, and things get sandy and they get rusty due to the salty ocean air. I figure if you are the type to expect 10-minute delivery of additional lines... if you expect spotless surroundings, and you want only the best, go pay $500 a night at the Hilton. For me and my family, we prefer to enjoy ocean front accommodations right on the boardwalk for about $300 less per night by tolerating a little sand and, in the case of HoJo's, even a small bathroom. Typical of a budget OC hotel/motel, they offer modest accommodations to cover just the basic necessities of a stay.

I would stay here again.
