Stayed with family this past weekend at this establishment and was slightly disappointed. Having stayed at many Marriotts over the years, this one is subpar at best. The price was somewhat reasonable at $109 a night, but sometimes you get what you pay for I suppose.
First we tried to eat dinner in the restaurant only to find it wasn't open (on a Friday night around 7:00 pm). We were forced to eat in the bar and the food was below average, but alas, the prices were not! Spent more in the bar on a dinner for 5 then I did for the one night stay! And nobody had mixed drinks! The food was outrageously overpriced and wasn't even palatable.
Next the rooms were average, nothing to write home about. The channel changer for the t.v. was actually so worn out you had to guess at the numbers! When I went to use the bathroom I discovered that I was at the end of the toilet paper roll. After looking around I realized that there were absolutely NO spare rolls anywhere to be found! This is entirely unaccapable! I've stayed at Motel 6's that were better stocked! And let's not even talk about the shower curtain that was about a foot too long and hung down into the tub so you pretty much had to touch it and walk on it to take a shower. Gross! How in the world do you not know the length needed for shower curtains in hundreds of rooms?? Besides these atrocities, the tile in the shower had many spots of black mold!!! Ugh!
After I got over my shock and disgust at the bathroom state, I attempted to get some sleep. The beds were okay, not luxurious in any way though like most nice hotels nowadays. After falling asleep I was awakened at 1:00 a.m. to the noise of laughter from somewhere in the hallway. I figured it would stop and the people would mosy to their rooms, but it did not! I heard this partying for 5 or 6 more times in about 1/2 hours time before I decided to get up and go see what was going on. As I opened the door I saw the culprits going into their room across the hall with an ice bucket. So as not to wake my family sleeping in the room I got my shoes on and walked down the hallway to the phone by the elevators and called the front desk to complain about the partying room. I will say they must have phoned them because I didn't hear the noise after that, thank God for small miracles.
I did work out in the gym and it was decent and had plenty of machines, which was nice. There was an indoor pool, but I didn't use it. I did notice they had a lifeguard on duty which I thought was a nice move compared to most hotels.
Overall I was very disappointed at this Marriott. Especially since it was a Marriott. While it wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed, I think by making sure the room is clean and well stocked and everything is in working order would go a long way to bringing up to a more Marriott-like standard. I, personally, won't be staying here again though.
