“Will be a returning guest”

Last time I stayed in the area, I stayed at a cheaper but totally disgusting place just outside of town...so glad I stayed at the HIX this time. It will definitely be my choice next visit

Room was of sufficient size but far from spacious. The high ceilings made it feel larger but there wasn't a lot of floor space in my room with two beds. Door didn't seem to be level on its hinges as the security bolt (the flippy/slider one) scuffs loudly against itself with every open and close of the door. Sink was slow to drain but we let them know after our first night and it had been corrected when we returned to the room.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful on check in. Everything in the room was very clean and in good working order. Towels were okay; better than cheap hotels but a little less quality than I'd expected. Bed linens were good, bed comfortable. Heating unit worked well, room stayed at the requested temp without varying, and unit was quiet. Oddly, no fan in the bathroom, which meant it was like a steamroom after a shower.

Room Tip: Scheeler Road very difficult for me to spot on my after-dark arrival--no streetlight. GPS tried to c...

“Convenient to Chestertown ammenities, clean and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

This is a "typical" Holiday Inn express, with good sized rooms (very clean), the bathroom was well stocked and VERY clean. The 3rd floor was very quiet, and the lady at the front desk was very pleasant. The shower water pressure was weak, and breakfast nothing special for those of us who try to avoid carb overload. Would stay again.

Room Tip: top floor is nice and quiet!

“Nothing Special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

When staying in this area your options are fairly limited. I've stayed at many Holiday Inn Expresses, and this one is just a tad below average. The tips I can give are to stay away from the bottom floor or rear door rooms. The bottom floor rooms can be 'buggy' during the late summer like when I was there and the paper thin walls leave a lot to be desired. The end room near the door was especially terrible. As soon as I checked into the room, it was the first thing I heard, so I immediately transferred to a different room and lost my King bed. This is when I was placed into the bug room. I was told my staff this is common at certain times during the year. On a final note, don't ever let this staff tell you that you can't cancel a reservation before 6pm. It's a policy with this hotel chain, and they tried on 2 different occasions to not accept my cancellation request around 4pm both times. On a more positive note, the manager was so kind to keep me from walking next door to a competitive hotel when I was told my the front desk that they did not have any King rooms available. While walking out the door, I was called by the manager who overheard and told me to come back and she gave me the King Suite at the standard room rate. To be honest, this is what really saved me in coming back. This trip was for business and I expect to be back again.

Room Tip: Avoid the bottom floor rooms or near the door at the rear of the bldg where you park

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we apprieciate all feed back. I do agree with the room by the back door, it is annoying and my staff has been told to make this room the last room sold from now on. I am glad that I could rescue you from going next door. I hope your next visit is a more enjoyable and hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Angela Ferrell, General Manager

“Near to Washington College "Just one place to Sleep".”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Just one place to sleep, the breakfast is free and "the quality is less than basic", services and hospitality are standard of the Holiday Inn. Always make your reservation with a corporate rate is almost 40% of discount; the College community only have the 15% off.

“Much nicer than we expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed one night at the HI Express in Chestertown, before a visit to Washington College. Although the beds were not the most comfortable in the world, I was pleased with the overall stay. The room was spotlessly cleaned, with two queen beds, desk, comfy chair, microwave/refrigerator, and flat screen tv. The free breakfast was better than expected, with a pancake-making machine, biscuits and gravy, plus standard rolls, yogurt, etc.

The desk staff were very cordial and enthusiastic and provided helpful directions. Although I didn't see it, the front desk staff proudly reported that they had a new library. This was more than I would expect from a Holiday Inn Express.

Overall, a nice short stay.

It is a pleasure to us here at the Holiday Inn Express to here a guest that had an enjoyable stay. We apprieciate the positive feed back and look forward to seeing you again in the future. The next time you stay try our King rooms if you don't have the need for two beds, I believe you will enjoy the room. Thank you, I will pass the comments on to my staff. Angela Ferrell
