“A Clean, Comfortable Place to Spend the Night"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

I generally agree with most of the other comments, but felt that the experience was more akin to an AirBnB experience than a traditional B&B experience. In other words, it felt more like a clean, comfortable place to crash for a night, rather than a special getaway.

Likes: Bev's warm and generous personality, spacious bedroom, and super clean home.
Dislikes: Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on a weekend, Frank describing guests as "customers" (which seemed to be his attitude), sharing a bathroom, and lack of air conditioning.

Room Tip: There are only two guest rooms.

Normally we would not respond to a review, but thought this particular one
deserved a response. While many places might be a good place to “crash”
for a night with little expected in return, we offer quite a bit more for people
who are looking for a quiet, clean, relaxing place to stay and top it off with a
full cooked breakfast. We have many repeat “customers”, “guests” , “visitors”,
as the case may be. We have one couple who have been here 8 times because it
is their “special getaway” place.
Everything we offer is advertised in our brochures, in our advertising on the
internet , and in our correspondance with our guests so there should never
be any surprises about what we offer. We have a one seating breakfast at 8:00am
(Notice is posted in each room, and guests are informed about this when they arrive)
We also serve breakfast earlier when people have to catch a ferry, or early flight from Portland. Our guests often remark how clean and well kept our “shared” bath is that serves the two rooms on the second floor. Our lack of air conditioning for the small number of nights that it might be needed, didn’t cause much concern for the guests we’ve had from 26 states, and 7 countries. We are located on a tidal river, and with adequate cross ventilation (&/fans), and the cool breeze coming off the river, it is usually quite comfortable. Of course, the windows need to be open to enjoy this. We value all our past, present, and future guests and have always attempted to meet their needs and go above their expectations. We treat all our guests with respect and courtesy, and ask only that they do the same with our other guests that may be here, and us as well. Thank you to all the wonderful people who have visited us over the years.

“Friendship is Spoken Here”

The above title is on a mat in the guest bedroom where we stayed, and it speaks volumes as to how we were treated by Bev and Frank. We can't say enough about them and their hospitality and helpfulness. The weather on the day of our trip from PA was horrendous with heavy rain and wind, and it included an accident(not us) which caused bumper-to-bumper traffic. We called them to say we would be late. Frank called back a few minutes later, and gave us directions to get around the tie-up. Our stay at their beautiful B&B was outstanding; comfortable rooms, great breakfasts, and enjoyable conversation with two really nice people. We'll be back. As a sidelight, visit Damariscotta during their PumpkinFest week, if only to see the pumpkin regatta. Picture 700lb hollowed-out pumpkins with outboard motors on them, racing each other. It's only a 20-30 minute drive from Wiscasset.

“Classic New England Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

If you are visiting the Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, and Wiscasset area of central Maine this is the place to stay. Bev and Frank are gracious hosts. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated. It looked out on a pristine backyard surrounded on one side by apple trees. The breakfasts were delicious (ask for the Amish Pancakes) and served in a quaint colonial dining room with sun streaming in from a lovely bay window. Finally, Bev and Frank were very helpful in supplying us with additional travel tips that added immeasurably to our visit.

“Delightful, friendly, and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Our hosts were two of the friendliest people we've ever met. The beds were very comfortable, the location was convenient to town, the gropunds were beautiful, and the breakfast was amazing, We will definitely stay there again, and will recommend it to others without hesitation.

“Unbeatable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

I stayed here with some family and we all had a great time. The breakfasts were delicious and they even accommodated for a vegan in our group. The rooms were very comfortable and the location is perfect for getting to places like Boothbay Harbor or Freeport without being stuck in the hustle and bustle of those cities. The innkeepers are a wonderfully sweet couple who really made our stay memorable, fun and comfortable. We will certainly return!
