Wow, we got rid of our futon 20 years ago. Funny it sure felt like the Inn at Southwest claimed it and was using it in the Pumpkin Room where we recently stayed. We checked to make sure and confirmed that yes it was a mattress. A really really firm one. If you like sleeping on asphalt then the Pumpkin Room is for you.
We were thirsty at night and went looking for water. Only a Keurig machine with hot tea and coffee. No water except what you get from your bathroom sink. Had to ask for the wifi password the next morning after finding out in the room binder they had wireless. Would have been nice to have been told that at check in and offered the password.
It's a cute inn. Beautiful porch especially at sunset. Would have loved to curl up with a book if we had a chance and some quiet. One late afternoon we returned from a hike to find the innkeepers themselves sitting at the corner table relaxing with wine and talking with guests.
It would have been nice if we weren't asked to fork over our credit card right away after being greeted. I realize it's a short tourism season and they have to make their money but having already paid for 2 nights of a 3 night stay six months before our arrival, it seemed a little cold. Every other B & B we've stayed at on trips to Southwest Harbor we would pay when checking out. And despite a hurricane warning, they made clear that we were responsible for all three nights. We ended up having to check out early Saturday night anyway to beat Irene and never got to eat that breakfast we paid for. Surprise, no offer to refund at least the cost of the breakfast although they did tell us "Come back and stay with us again!" Not.
