“An Amazing Place To Elope”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Sebasco Harbor Resort is a great place to have a wedding or an elopement. We got married on October 5, 2011 and the facilities and staff could not have been better. The weather was quite cold but the staff made us feel warm and welcome. Michael Lynch, the resort manager, who also doubles as a wedding officiant took great care to make sure that the day was perfect. He even arranged for the rain to clear for a few hours so we could get married outside under the beautiful gazebo. We stayed in one of the lighthouse rooms which had an amazing view of the harbor. During our stay we had two amazing dinners at the Pilot House restaurant. The Lobster was to-die-for. I only wish that we had booked a longer stay. We are planning on returning for our 1 year anniversary.

Room Tip: For an absolutely amazing view ask for the king room in the lighthouse.

“What a Location!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We had a super room with views over the Bay, in spite of the rain and the mist. Although there are plenty of outdoor activites the weather at the beginning of October militated against this.
Reception staff were helpful and our luggage was taken down to ur rooms in a buggy.
Large, very comforatable room with good facilities.
We went to the bar on our first night and shared a plate, more than sufficient. Barman, sorry forgot his name, was ver chatty and pleasant and his beer recommendation of a local IPA was spot on.
Buffet breakfast our first morning was excellent value although the service was slow. There was a wedding party in and the servers were more interested in chatting to some of the young girls than serving us oldies with coffee or even getting our cheque. Service was better the next morning (no guests in mini skirts!) but no buffet and a bit more expensive.
The restuarant was closed in the evening but the restuarant manager gave us helpful advice about where to go on a rainy day for activities and a substantial lunch, suggesting we snack in the bar in the evening.
Given the end of the season it is clear that things start to wind down a bit but this did not detract from our stay.
This is a long drive from Boston for those on a New England Tour and the staff in the Boston Visitor Centre had never heard of it. We had to phone the resort for the name of the nearest town after which it was easier to identify on the map. Aim for Phiipsburg and your almost there.

Room Tip: Try and get a view of the bay, it is stunning

“Wonderful Wedding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Our son and new "daughter" held their wedding at Sebasco and we were not only blessed with summer weather (80's!) but a genuinely warm and welcoming resort too!! The staff was wonderful and the Quartedeck pre-wedding celebration was wonderful!!!

Food delicious - location private and relaxing!

We were so busy did not have time to look around or enjoy the entire resort - but it looked lovey in passing.

“Shabby - in need of some tender loving care”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Stayed here for one night in the Lighthouse (no 22). As with previous travellers, the views of the bay, inlets and outying islands are super. We had panoramic views from our bedroom and from the top floor of the lighthouse and its 'crows nest'. That said our experience and view of the resort differ somewhat from some of the previous feedback. The online video of Sebasco Harbour Resport does not marry up to what is actually there waiting for you. True we were staying at the end of the season BUT the whole resort has an air of shabbiness though the staff are hard working and offer good customer service. The reception, lighthouse and pilothouse were tired both on the inside and out. The lighthouse public areas were beyond shabby chic, scuff marks and dirt on the walls, worn carpets, the top floor and crows nest in need of repaint & varnish. The paper cups for making tea and coffee, the easy chairs, the victims of supporting many a big bottom in need of re-upholstering, the ripped wall paper (in room 22) together did not exude 3 star comfort let alone 4 or 5 star comfort. We had dinner in the Pilothouse - the last night of the season. Though many of the wines and some dishes were unavailable, the service and greeting from Karen was excellent and possibly the most genuine of all we have experienced on this trip through New England. The food was good though unexceptional, the scallops in white chocolate were tasty as was the lobster, though dessert - a dark chocolate flan clearly not made in house was poor. We also breakfasted in the Pilothouse but sadly it was luke warm when it eventually arrived and did not have the side dish of sausages we had ordered. To be candid, the waitress seemed to be more interested in chatting to the locals at the adjacent table discussing the forthcoming wedding of the daughter of the owner of Sebasco Harbour than looking after its guests! So in conclusion for European travellers & readers this is no 4-5 star resort. If you are expecting something along the lines of De Vere hotels and resports or Leading Hotels of the World then you will be disappointed. As regular travellers across Europe, Asia, Canada and the US, this is a good 2-3 star resort that was probably first class when originally built in the 80's but is now in need of some TLC to halt the decline.

Room Tip: Room 22 Lighthouse for views of harbour and convenience to get to Pilothouse restaurant adjacent.

Michael Lynch, General Manager at Sebasco Harbor Resort, responded to this review
8 November 2011
Dear Reviewer:

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property. We appreciate your kind words regarding the views and most importantly, sharing your gratitude of our Sebasco team members. We have an incredible staff that works hard to make sure you enjoy your time with us.

I am sorry that you felt as though the rooms in the Lighthouse were tired - as a small family owned business, we work hard to keep up with the annual maintenance an 82 year old resort requires. With that being said, we certainly would not make any excuse for ripped wallpaper in your room. The Lighthouse rooms remain our most popular rooms, although many of our returning guests prefer the recently constructed Harbor Village Suites and Fairwinds Spa Suites.

I am sorry the dining didn't meet your expectations. Karen is one of our best and thank you for mentioning her by name. Your breakfast should have been delivered at the proper temperature and with all items ordered - my apologies. We have a great community on the Popham peninsula and although your service shouldn't have been negatively affected, our neighbors are the heart of this resort and the upcoming wedding was certainly an event of interest.

Again, we thank you for staying with us and apologies that we didn't provide you with the perfect getaway.

Best regards,
Michael Lynch

“Peacefull”

Just spent two nights in the lighthouse at Sebasco Harbor Resort. It was fabulously peaceful. The view from our room was amazing. I brought many books...but never got past a page or two because I spent most of the time just gazing out our window.

We ate at the Pilot House for dinner which was a great experience. The food was par to any 5 star restaurant we have been to with service to match. (and a great view!!). We also ate at the Ledges Pub which was typical "pub fare".

We didn't use the spa or the golf course (just couldn't bring ourselves to leave our fabulous view.

We spent many hours in the top of lighthouse enjoying the view and meeting many people from all parts of the world. I regret not getting contact information from the lovely people I met from "across the pond".
