After some trepidation over 2 reviews of this motel, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. I will add that 3 other reviews had been positive. From the outside the motel is as neat and well-cared for as can be. Lily, her husband and their dog, Lucy, were so pleasant and helpful that we felt right at home. Parking was right at our porch and easy. When we opened the door to our room(on the back) we breathed a sigh of relief. The room was so clean and neat and comfortable looking. The beds were great - we both slept like logs every night. Everything worked properly and the overhead fan cooled the room fine. There were several chairs and the kitchenette worked out beautifully for us. We enjoyed a breakfast at Lily's on one of our days, ate in twice and on the beach once. The location is incredible. Across the street is the cutest entrance to the beach that the town has built. The beach was beautiful and never over-crowded. It was easy to go to busier places (20 min. to Old Port in Portland, Cape Elizabeth(especially the Lobster Shack at the Two Lights) or south to outlets and 'honky tonk'. This was everything you could want in a Maine vacation. Thank you, Lily, for having such a cute place.

It's our second year at the Sand Dollar Inn.
Would recommand without a doubt. (Although the kitchenette is very small, and takes forevever to boil water or cook something because the burners don't get that hot) it's a peaceful place in Pinepoint. Beach is across the street and not crowded like the one in the pier area. Very clean and comfortable. Lilly the owner is very friendly & accomodating.
The rooms in the front have a nice deck wich the rooms in the back don't have.
Will probably go again next year if we go to OOB.

The Sand Dollar Inn was the perfect place for a first trip to Maine. My mom and I like to walk. Each morning we walked from Scarbourgh to Old Orchard Beach stopping at the shops along the way. We ate lunch at the Boardwalk and walked back along the shore. We had rooms on the Ocean side and met some great people who stay there every year. They were wonderful travel resources and steered us in the right direction for day trips. We loved having lobster omlettes and blueberry pancakes at Lily's in the morning. The place is very comfortable. It made me think of my grandmother's home with the fresh smelling linens and period furniture. We will be returning with more family members next year.

Lily dosent have anything to worry about.....esp that nasty Lighthouse Inn across the way ....Lilys was absolutely perfect by us. My sisters family and mine stayed in 2000, following the deaths of my husband and our mother. Then again in 02 we returned the same excellent hospitality! We had the most enjoyable time of our 40+ years of traveling to Maine. I dont want to praise it too highly as Lilys Sandollar Inn is always booked. And yes the rooms facing the sea are a hot commodity....though we enjoyed the rear facing room as well. My sister stayed once across the way because of non- availabilty...never again. I went to visit her ( yes i was lucky enough to get a front facing room!). Her place smelled horrible of mildew- i would have never been able to stay there. I value the quietness of Lilys location to the beach. The restaurant alone draws many visitors---we loved having it to ourselves for breakfast---every meal we had was a class act!! I cant wait to get back again. Like i said, i dont want too many to know how wonderful The Sand Dollar Inn is so there will be an opening for me !! God Bless Lily--i hope you get to see this!! Oh and the prices--compare for yourself--it all depends on what your needs are.....hers is by far the better value!
PS I did finally find similar Sand dollars to put near my steps!!
