“Dirty, Bad Odor, Staff Inappropriate”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

Checked in here for a 2 night stay for a quick weekend trip with my wife. When we got to the room the room was dirty, smell of mold and staleness was terrible. Decode has obviously not been updated in many many years pink fixtures, old beds and sheets that are thin, yellowed and uncomfortable. Fridge did not work, no air-conditioning, and fridge was in the bathroom. Talked to the management/owner, two brothers, in the office which now smelled of alcohol and they said "well we are on the ocean you know". Very rude staff, unclean rooms that smell and old run down furniture and fixtures. Never visit again. We forfeited the money, yes they would not refund anything, and got another hotel down the road. Be very careful.

“Dank and Musty!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

What a total disappointment. My husband and I arrived on a Friday evening and checked into our room without asking to see the room first. What a mistake! The room was worse than outdated. It was dark and smelled musty. I immediately turned on the overhead fan and stand alone fan and opened the door to air the room out - NO LUCK. The fridge in the room didn't work. When my husband went to the office to return our key and check out he told the man in the office that we couldn't stand the smell and the man responded "you've been here a long time". My husband responded "we've been here 2 hours" to which the man responded "we are at the ocean you know". I have been to Old Orchard many times and have stayed at different places. There is no way that smell was from the ocean. Way over priced for a disgusting room. We lost $300.00 to drive 3 miles down the road, pay less and stay in a beautiful, clean suite.

“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

Very clean, rooms a large, plenty of hot water, 150 feet down sand walk way to the beach.
They even clean the sand up in the parking lot. The carpet were very clean as well, I saw some mention they were not., Will be staying there again

“I don't usually write reviews either...”

but do want the owner and staff at the Lighthouse Inn to know how much I enjoyed my recent 4 night stay. I can't think of a better way to end the day than being able to hear the surf crash against the shore or a better way to start the day than to look out onto the Atlantic Ocean and enjoy a cup of coffee on the beach which is a short, short walk. This isn't a Cadillac hotel which I didn't have a problem with although there were more tv channels available then I've had access to in much priceier hotels. I found the property to be clean and well-maintained, the beds comfortable and the staff courteous and efficient. Pine Point is absolutely beautiful and is conveniently located away from busy OOB which can be accessed by trolley (stop is near the hotel). I look forward to returning to the Lighthouse Inn in the near future.

“BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! I don't give reviews often but this is needed”

I read some of the other reviews of this hotel in other sites and I always will give someone the benefit of the doubt, but.....This place is a awful. The setting is nice, but that is where it ends. The rooms are dark and smell very bad, the floors were so dirty we ended up taking the sheets off of the beds and covering the floors so we could walk without our feet turning black. The bathrooms were filthy and we had to get cleaning supplies and clean it ourself. There are no amenities in the room except a small TV and alarm clock. The walls and ceilings are very thin and you can hear everything going on around you. There is also no A/C, yes this is 2010 and no there is no A/C. Here is the kicker; When I called and made the reservation the manager told me the room was $125.00 per night, they would charge one night for a deposit and I could pay the balance upon arrival. My wife ended up completing the transaction when we arrived at 11:00 PM and did not know what the room was supposed to cost and he ended up charging us $225.00 per night for an end room at the back of the hotel that had nothing, not even a phone. When we confronted him about it he said I was wrong and that she signed the slip and they were allowed to charge whatever they wanted at any time. After staying here one night (still thinking I was paying $125.00 for the room) I told my wife it was not even worth $50.00 per night to stay here. There are much better hotels for the $125.00 per night in the area and you can stay at a 5 star resort like the Cliffhouse in Ogunquit for the $225.00 per night. He is out of his mind to charge what he charges and you are also if you do not heed this warning. P.S. he also owns other local hotels, se be carefull about where you book.

We received a call from this disgruntled customer who was obviously unaware of our rate structure. He was upset over the price of the room. We offered to send him a rate schedule print out showing that the average price of the rooms on that night was what he was paying. He accused us of being liars and cheats. We told him to check other rates in the area and he told us we probably owned them as well. He threatened to " fix us", and this review is his attempt to do that.
