“My Favorite Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

My family has been going to the Black Point Inn for ages each summer. This Thanksgiving we stayed at the inn for two nights and loved it in the fall as much as we did in the summer. It is my favorite destination in Maine because of three main reasons:

(a) The kind and friendly staff (Jen is a true gem)
(b) The increible sea views
(c) The charm of an old New England inn

Sure, the rooms are a bit dated. Sure, the food is a bit too fancy at times. But the fire is always going and the sea breezes are always flowing.

Get me back to the Black Point!

This inn has all the old New England charm with all the a modern facility. Expensive but a real treat with magnificent views.

Room Tip: Walk around the point. They also have a wine dinner at the end of each Season.

“Thanksgiving Dinner 2011 so so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

it is a very beautiful place. amazing views. had a 4:00 sitting for dinner, but the turkey was undercooked and dry - proabably would have been worse if it was cooked all the way. rest of the buffet was ok, good variety. but there was no desserts left. service was ok, young lady looked like she ran out of steam and was barely moving.

“Pretty setting, different hotel!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

The hotel was bought by locals who went on to sell the huge ocean-front pool where there are now condos (or houses). Service is really bad in the hotel and the restaurant. Service is great in the Chart Room but it gets busy so go early. Would I stay here again, probably not, would I eat here again, not in the hotel restaurant but yes to the chart room (bar).
My husband and I stayed here for many years and were so disappointed on our last visit. You get the feeling the only want Prouts Neck folks here, seems kind of like their own little world!
We now live in Maine and when people ask where to stay I say elsewhere.
I wish they could bring the old hotel back with all of its glories but at least they still have the view which can't be beat!
Also, not very kiddie friendly, food or otherwise.

“Found this place by making a wrong turn, Wow!!!”

Beautiful location and great setting. Everything about this place was spectacular. Private tennis club across the street that you can play at. They only have 25 rooms so you will need to make reservations.

Room Tip: Every room is perfect!
