“Couldn't have been more convenient and accomodating!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

The host family is very nice. The rooms were nice and clean and the access to the beach is simply ideal. I hope we can make it up again next summer!

Room Tip: unit c is on the parking lot side, but has less foot traffic than unit a and b which are on the beac...

“Old Orchard Beach Maine best kept secret”

Seacoast Motel is what Old Orchard Beach is all about.

I found this great spot by wandering in street view on Google earth;
there is virtually no word online for this little motel, except the only other review here on Trip Advisor, which returned by Google’ing the motel’s address indicated on street view.

Laurie and Wally, the owners and operators of Seacoast Motel for 20 years now, told us that word of mouth (and internet now!) and many faithful returning costumers provide them with virtually full booking for the entire season, which is no surprise to me, this little place has a lot to offer, for any wise traveler seeking the true essence of this destination. Luckily we booked on a low week just before Labor Day weekend, and one was left for us.

Seacoast motel is literally nested on the beach limit, it is a small motel offering 3 units, the fourth unit is where Laurie, Wally and their little girls live. 2 of the 3 units are on the ocean side, the third is in the back, by their private guests parking.

We were in the same unit as for the reviewer below, check my pics, you will see how large and clean is the place, It really has a full kitchen, all accessories included. The mattresses are perfect, we slept very well, the bathroom is efficient and clean, I can’t find anything to complain about, really; it has an efficient AC system, ceiling and floor fans, 2 double beds in our respective unit, cable TV with lots of channels, it has everything you need.

The porch is perfect, with picnic tables, many chairs, 2 barbecues, and just 2 steps from the beach and waves. Oh and by the way on the street side, Seacoast Motel has its own snackbar!

It’s more like a guest house, feeling at home, no stairs or endless walks through corridors, or reception, just like your own private place by the sea.

They are located a little more than a half mile (1km) south from the pier, right in front of the famous rocks where I used to hunt the crabs as a kid, it’s a perfect spot for quietness while close to the action.

Laurie and Wally are genuine lovers of Old Orchard and truly nice human beings. From the time we arrived until our last farewell, we felt like members of the family, they want their guest to be happy and they made everything for it to be a success. You may happen to meet Laurie’s mother, this sweet lady piloted her own little cessna to come and visit the family!

If you are looking for a good time with friends or family and for what really counts in Old Orchard, don’t miss on that place, you will certainly come back.

“Last house before the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2009

Just a few steps from the beach, this motel, about 1/2 hour south of Portland, Maine, is mid-way between a cottage and a motel room. The wonderful kitchen made it easy to prepare anything from popcorn to a full meal, if you wanted. There are only 3 rooms that are rented and we were fortunate to have one of the ocean-side rooms, however, even though the room faces the ocean, the ocean is totally hidden by the seagrass, so no ocean view. In Old Orchard Beach you must be careful to be away from the train that runs along Grand Ave. We could not hear the train from the Seacoast Motel. It is very much like being in a home, not a motel, because of the layout. The door is just like home with a screen door and regular key and there were 2 picnic tables just outside the door. There is no maid service, as in a cottage, but the owner delivered clean towels daily, as per our request. The owners are extremely friendly and know the area well. The room was clean, large and roomy, with two double beds, and, like a cottage, a full kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, sink, microwave, and a 4-burner gas stove with oven. There were kitchen cabinets like in a kitchen at home and a wooden kitchen table. There was ample counter space, but half was taken up by the microwave. There was one dresser but half of the top was taken up by the TV. The TV remote was missing and there was none to be had for our entire stay. The bathroom was clean, but small-no shampoo, etc., such as you would find in most motels. There was no place to hang a robe and the sink had no space for toiletries, but there was a medicine cabinet and small vanity. The only problem was that we kept our windows open and you could hear every step and word of people outside the window. There was air conditioning, but the unit was extremely noisy. Unfortunately, one night, our neigbors stayed out on the picnic tables until the wee hours of the morning talking and laughing, making it impossible to sleep. The rest of the time, the nights were lovely and quiet. This facility was quite good, homey, and is a great place to stay to be near the beach.
