“Wedding weekend”

I chose the Asticou Inn as I was looking for a Maine venue which would serve as a wonderful destination spot for guests from the South & Northeast. The Asticou Inn proved to be the perfect quaint New England location with great access to Acadia Park, the Azalea gardens, Bar Harbor, etc. But above all, I rank the Asticou so highly due to the exceptional service of the staff--above all Tom Weverstad. I could not have planned this destination wedding without Tom; everything from his initial recommendations to his last minute attention to detail the day of the wedding. Tom made it all happen. This is an extraordinary venue!

“Perfect Place for a Wedding!”

My husband and I got married at the Asticou this past July, and I have nothing but positive things to say about the setting and the staff at the Asticou. We had an outdoor ceremony, and we are still getting comments from guests that the location could not have been more beautiful. The staff, particularly Tom Weverstead, the wedding coordinator at the Asticou, were incredibly helpful and made sure that every detail was covered beautifully and seamlessly. Tom was so easy to work with, and really took care to make sure that our wedding was everything we wanted it to be. The staff were all incredibly gracious with our guests. Friends and family who stayed there had a great time. We even rented out the Cranberry Inn for an afterparty, which worked perfectly. The great wraparound porch was a perfect setting. We are so thrilled with our choice of wedding venue! I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering a Maine wedding or looking for a classic, charming place to stay up in Acadia.

“Quiet place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

I stayed three days at Asticou Inn as part of a 6-day trip. I stayed in a room right above the kitchen. Fortunately, the kitchen quieted down after dinner, so I slept well at night. My room had a view of the Northeast Harbor, the large backyard, and the pool. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. This building is old, so guests have to adjust their expectations accordingly.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the harbor. If you can get a balcony, that would be great.

“The Quintessential Top-Shelf New England Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

What more can one say beyond the title? Outstanding service, an solid (if conventional) menu, clean, light, airy, well-located, peaceful, gorgeous views and gardens... and the Acadia National Park trail system starts, literally, across the street from the front door. In these days of cookie-cutter "boutique" hotels, it is a treat to find a small hotel that is lovingly tended and beautifully maintained. If you like more modern hotels, I'm afraid this one will not satisfy you: the floors creak, the elevator is "charming", etc. But if part of the reason you travel is to experience the culture and history of the places you visit, then the Asticou should be at the top of you list. I travel to NE Harbor infrequently, but I know where I'll be staying in the future!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms that face the harbor, and preferably on the 2nd floor.... when the weather is hot, the...

“What!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

I simply do not understand the negative reviews of this inn. Yes, it is old. Yes, the king size beds are really twins put together. However, the setting is beautiful. The staff is outstanding. The room that we stayed in was spectacular ( 126). The house cat was beautiful. People have to get a life. This place is so far out of the ordinary. Go. Stay. And, most of all, enjoy! New England and Maine at its best. One last thing: the swan on the bed was so not expected and so great - that, alone, rates a return visit mandatory. So, you have to go to understand what that was all about.

Room Tip: Get a harborside room. The road fronting the inn can be a bit noisy in the morning
