“beautiful and a bargain”

You can hear the sound of the crashing ocean waves from your bungalow deck; the most delicious blueberry pancakes are just a one minute walk away (at the Seagull Cafe); staff is very accommodating and friendly; rooms are simple & pretty; and the price is so low, I'm not sure how they do it. This place has become a tradition for us, and we hope it stays exactly the same as it is now!

“Great place to stay in a Great State”

This has surely got to be one of the best places to stay on the Maine Coast. The decor is from eariler times, perhaps the 30s, 40s or 50s. It is as if time stood still, yet all in great condition. My wife and I stayed in one of the cottages which had everything you needed. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and everything was clean and fresh. Great natural light and ambiance. The hotel is about 150 yards from one of the historic Maine lighthouses—Pemaquid Light which is on one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world—which by the way is very accessible to watch the incoming waves crash against the shore. I am a photographer and this is a great place to photograph!—Sunrise through Sunset. The staff of the hotel is very friendly and recomends great places to visit in the area—which are many. Eating in this part of Maine is a real treat, and just down from the hotel is the Sea Gull Cafe where you can get the best blueberry pancakes in the world, lobster rolls, chowda and a vast selection of great eats. Quiet, good for couples or a solo. Relaxing and invigorating atmosphere.

“We've been coming here for about 7 years--love the hotel and the area.”

Just down the road from the hotel is a lovely gift shop/restaurant, the "Seagull." It literally overlooks the cliffs, with ocean waves crashing against the cliffs--and sea birds everywhere. it is dramatic and composing at once, and we think it is a great place to visit!

Room Tip: We stay at the Bungalow, which is part of, but separate from the hotel.

“A throwback in time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

The Hotel Pemaquid was a delightful place to stay. We thought we had stepped back into the 1930s when we walked into the office. The place is filled with neat antiques. The main living room has a majestic fireplace and awesome furnishings. There is the main building and several outbuildings. We stayed in one of the Burnside rooms - great space, comfortable, with a small balcony out front. The also have bungalows available. The place was hopping when we stayed, with plenty of couples and families staying there. They had bikes available to use (although we had our own). Excellent value - one of the least expensive places we stayed on our entire trip up the Maine coast but one of the best! They don't take credit cards so bring cash or a check.

It is literally 1/10 mile from Pemaquid lighthouse, an easy stroll to the ocean. The lighthouse is a fantastic place to visit. We spent a few hours in the afternoon going through the museum and art gallery, and hanging out on the rocks.
