My wife and I stayed at the Moorings in New Harbor, Maine for one week (the minimum stay) in July. It defies the logic of most similar accomodations and is in a category of its own. These are condominium-like apartments, beautiful and comfortable. We were amazed at the beauty and attention to detail at the Moorings. We stayed in the "Brackett" apartment which was in immaculate condition with the windows sparkling. The private deck was huge and the views were amazing! The kitchen is fully equipped and after coffee every morning we would walk down a sculptured winding stone staircase through the most pleasant landscape with an abundance of flowering shrubs and flowers. We arrived at the pool for our morning swim, enjoyed the hot tub and occasionally played some tennis. 7 apartments in restored classic New England homes make up this destination which sits on 10 acres. In short, the Moorings for us is the opposite of other establishments in Maine. This place has the feeling of an elaborate upscale compound or private estate and is less expensive than first class hotel accomodations. We fell in love with the Moorings and fell in love with each other all over again. Thank you, Sally, the owner-manager. We appreciated your integrity, taste and love for what you have created. Strict adherence to occupancy numbers avoids any overcrowding. Our only fear is that the Moorings changes. We left wanting more.
