“Classic tourist lobster”

In the summer there is no parking as there are so many families here visiting from places all over the world. It closes for the fall/winter/spring. Beautiful harbor of five islands has working boats coming in with the lobster you will eat. Outdoor picnic tables and packages of hand wipes make it the informal feasting it is meant to be. Fish sandwiches are good and fresh.

“The best choice for lobster in midcoast Maine”

The absolutely perfect lobster purist experience. You order your lobster with all the fixins' and eat it on picnic tables on the deck overlooking one of the most beautiful coves in midcoast Maine. Superb food. Great atmosphere. The best view of ANY restaurant in the area. Wear a light jacket if any month other than July or August since the breeze off the water can be cool.

“Sweet Succulent Lobster - Drool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Lobster just doesn't get any fresher than this unless you eat it on the boat. A little expensive and quite a drive (good 20 miles driven to get there) but well worth it for the food, scenery, and experience. We selected our lobsters which are caught locally, held in seawater pumped from below the wharf and then steamed in seawater. While waiting for our lobsters to steam, we took pictures and had such a FUNNY encounter with a local stray dog. Set the tripod up and ran to get into the shot. The dog also ran up next to us and stood motionless for the picture to be taken. SURREAL. This place was featured on the Food Channel's top 100.

“AMAZING seafood, gorgeous setting, do not miss this place!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

We had the good fortune to eat here for lunch, upon the recommendation of our friends (Maine natives). We loved the outdoor picnic atmosphere and lovely scenery. Our friends brought a picnic basket with cheese, crackers, and fresh veggie snacks, which perfectly complemented the fried oysters, steamers, and lobster we bought at Five Islands - all of which were THE BEST seafood I have ever had the opportunity to enjoy. The oysters melted in my mouth, steamers were tender and perfectly salty, and the lobster was divine. Service was friendly. Prices were very inexpensive, and we were happy to buy some lobster and steamers to take home to Vermont with us. This experience was well worth the extra hour+ detour for us on our Maine trip. Highly, highly recommended.
