“A great place to be nurtured and to nurture yourself”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

I enjoyed my stay at NtN so much that I am already planning on going again next year and spending more time. Jen and Raja are perfect hosts and provide many opportunities for self care and time in nature. The cabin I was in was very clean and had plenty of maps and brochures for the area and a stack of books to read on the porch or in the hammock. The walking trails are very well marked and there are private places to meditate and look at the view. Also, I highly recommend the steam/sauna bath!! Wonderful!!

“The Perfect Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2010

This is not for everyone, but if you find escaping to a quiet and natural setting where people and the environment are given the utmost respect, then you will love this place. The simplicity is key, and the options that are available allow you to tailor your stay to suit your needs. We enjoyed the group yoga classes, meditation, and especially the wood fired sauna. The property is not huge, but it is stunning with a variety of trails and micro environments: a stream with waterfalls and swimming holes; ledges and outcroppings with beautiful views; and quiet contemplative spaces with benches and hammocks. With only 2 cabins currently on the property, you feel like it is all there just for you.

The cabins are comfortable with electricity if needed. A propane cookstove is available but we found cooking on the woodstove that was simultaneously heating the cabin and washwater to be the most practical. Split wood is provided. The kitchen had everything we needed including bottled water and a cooler to keep our food. You need to bring your own ice from off site. The cabin also had a composting toilet indoors, and a fire pit outdoors. Just dreamy!

The common building had the most comfortable space for yoga, meditation, and massage, and Jen and Raja are so incredibly helpful and sweet. I think the only thing I found awkward was rinsing dishes effectively without wasting the bottled water - I never quite mastered the wet soapy hands and the heavy glass gallon jug, but perhaps that's my issue, not theirs.

“Beautiful, simple eco-cabin vacation offers so much”

Located in rural Denmark, Maine, about an hour west of Portland, Nurture through Nature provides build-your-own vacation and retreat opportunities for nature lovers, solitude seekers, groups get togethers, yoga practitioners, and canoeing/ and hiking enthusiasts. Located on more than 33 wooded acres with a brook that runs through the property, Nurture through Nature provides incredible beauty. There are numerous hiking trails outside the cabin doors. You start by renting a cabin and then choose the additional services you would like ~ yoga, massage, guided canoe trip, wood-fired sauna.

I have stayed at Nurture through Nature four times and will go back again. I like taking time each year to experience a simpler way of living. Nurture through Nature is off the grid ~ all electricity is generated by solar panels and hydro power. Cabins have electricity, which you are welcome to use, but asked to be prudent. There are wood stoves in the cabins for heating, if needed. There is an outdoor shower and a composting privy.

My day usually starts with a yoga class (there are group or private classes available), followed by some canoeing or hiking. The owner is a Registered Maine Guide and has taken me to wonderful, scenic, quiet spots to paddle.

Located just a few miles away, the town of Bridgton, Maine, has great restaurants, a movie theater and a Drive-In movie theater, and shopping if you get cabin fever.

“a simple and perfect retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

Jen and Raja are fabulous hosts, providing all the privacy you could desire at the same time making sure you are well cared for. We had an amazing time hiking the trails, taking a dip in the fresh mountain stream, using the beautiful yoga studio for movement and meditation, and steaming in the luxurious traditional Finish sauna (a must do while you are here!).

Great spot in the Maine woods. Plenty of solitude and a great trail up the mountain. Loved the fire pit and the wood stove, and nothing beats a babbling brook. Highly recommended for those seeking solitude.
