“A nice enough spot to rest. Nothing fancy. A little outdated. Good Food.”
Stayed solo for two weekend nights in Oct. 2010 to attend a retreat nearby. Easy to find on Route 1 just over the Rockport/Camden border. This seems to be a family run business, not a big hotel chain. They give you a real motel key off a hook. The rooms are in two two-story buildings across the parking lot from the Office/Restaurant.
Peak "leaf peeping" season rate, with 10% AAA discount was $104 for two double beds. Room had high speed internet, cable tv, coffee maker, hair dryer and motel shampoo/soaps. Decor is kind of dated. Somewhere between 1980's country motif and 1950's colonial reproduction. Room was very clean, but it did have a distinct smell that I can only describe as "like grandmas house".
Has an outdoor heated pool, which I did not use. I could hear the people walking about upstairs, which was a minor distraction.
The restaurant is well attended, with plenty of local retirees (which translates to good, unpretentious food for a decent price) along with a few tourists carbing up before hiking nearby Mt. Battie, which you can see from the parking lot. I ate the BEST eggs benedict I have ever ordered. Had pizza and wings with beer for dinner. This little place was hopping on a Saturday night! Not sure how they fit a jazz band in there on Friday nights.
For my neads, I was quite happy with this hotel. Great for families or seniors on a budget. Not recommended for seasoned travelers or the country club crowd.
