“A Gem by the Bay”

We spent Christmas week (12/24 - 1/1/12) in the Belfast area and had many choices for lodging - a Boutique Hotel downtown, several "mom & pop" motels and a few B & B options. We could not have made a better "Choice" - (pardon the pun)!! Our 3rd floor mini suite was clean, functional & very comfortable. The staff is friendly, attentive and very professional. Barry, the GM is a real pro and his touch is reflected from top to bottom. We ate at the restaurant every night and never had a bad meal. Highly recommended. A GREAT VALUE!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor have a great view.

Thank you for writing. I am glad that you chose us over the many other offerings in the Belfast area. Further, and more importantly, I am glad that you were pleased with your choice. Thank you too for your nice coment about the restaurant and even me. The restaurant is still an undiscovered treasure. I am fortunate to have dedicated staff members who make me look good. It is a pleasure to work with many of them.
I hope that you will visit us again, leaving the warmth of the gulf to visit up here in Maine.

Sincerely,

Barry Asalone

“Lovely view from your balcony”

Since this is a quaint seaside town, we debated staying at one of its historic B&Bs. Many times in a B&B, however, I feel cramped - by the time we move our suitcases inside and find a place for all of the pillows, the room's charms diminish. So I voted for the dependable Comfort Inn Ocean's Edge and was not disappointed. For $85.71, we had a large, comfortable room with a view of the ocean. Nearby is a lobster pound (limited hours) and a well-lit footbridge that's a delightful walk after dark.

As I said to "Great Hotel and Bargain" below, I love to see reviews from seasoned travelers. I am glad that you chose us over a B&B and enjoyed your stay. While many of the B&Bs in town are nice, there are none where all rooms overlook the water. I am pleased that you found our service exceptional. That's a tough area to compete with a B&B, where often the owner is your service provider. You set the bar high. Thank you.
I hope that, should your travels bring you back to Maine from Wyoming, you will visit us again.

Sincerely,

Barry Asalone

“Great Value At Off-season Rates”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We stayed one night in late November. There were not many guests that night, but we know, from several past experiences that it is usually very quiet, with fairly good sound isolation between rooms. The room was large, well furnished and very clean. Wifi was a bit slow, but good signal. Breakfast is standard Comfort Inn: waffles, eggs & sausage, cereals, pastries, yogurt. The brealfast area would be rather small if the motel was busy. The staff was courteous and efficient. One of the best features is that every room has an ocean view, with a balcony off the room.
We paid about $76 (the off-season senior rate) and considered it a very good value. Regular summer rates are 2.5 to 3 times that, as is typical in such a strongly seasonal tourist area. In high season, we would choose one of the many other local options. With that limitation, we would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Top floor, if available.

“Great Hotel and Bargain!”

My wife and I stayed here with our dog during a rambling trip through Canada and Maine. The hotel was clean and attractively decorated. The staff was friendly and welcoming, especially the manager, who is a great guy and great hotelier. Our room was on the ground floor with an ocean view. My wife and I, as well as our dog, were comfortable in the well furnished room with two queen bed and a spacious bath. The complementary breakfast was good. The hotel is located on a bay, close to Belfast, and provided a great stop for the three of us. A good value for the money. We will be back!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms allow guests to walk directly out of their rooms and down to the ocean.

“A Quick Review From Your Average Vacationer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

I stayed at this property a little while ago. While driving through, I wasn't sure what kind of hotel I was going to find. Everything was quite spread out in this small town. I arrived at the hotel four hours prior to check in time; luckily my room was already clean and waiting for me. Upon checking in, the front desk staff was very friendly. They pointed me in the direction of my room, and I really was not as disappointed as I thought I might be. The room was of good size, and held all of your basic amenities. I was quite pleased to find that I had my own balcony that over-looked the water. It was a beautiful day to sit out and enjoy the view. The hotel also had a cute little restaurant which specialized mainly in sea food. Although I was expecting the worst, the hotel was not bad at all. I will most likely return a few times next spring when I can enjoy the view again.
