“vacation stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

The motel was clean with a great location. The room is large enough for two adults to be comfortable but the bathroom is very small. If you love a soft bed, you are in luck and will be very happy! The room includes a microwave and a refrigerator which is really convenient but alas, no coffee pot in the room. If you want coffee, you must go to the front office for it but they also provide a selection of pastries. Peter covers the front desk and is very friendly and helpful. He is willing to answer your questions about the area, providing recommendations if you need them.

“Nice place to stay on a budget.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

I came here on a motorcycle trip with my uncle and a couple friends. We chose The Gull Motel because of its low price and good reviews. My experience was very positive from making the reservations over the phone to checking out at the end of our trip. I mostly dealt with Peter who was very friendly, informative, and helpful. The room was decent. Our room had 2 queen sized beds, a small table w/ 2 chairs a dresser, TV, small microwave, refrigerator and an air conditioner. Outside, each room had its own patio. It was very clean and seemed to have been recently painted. The carpets showed sign of wear and the bathroom was extremely small. In the morning there were muffins and coffee in the office for guests. The muffins were packaged which was a little bit of a disappointment but wouldn't keep me from staying there again.

We were mainly just using the motel as a place to land. During the day, we were out riding our motorcycles. The location was perfect for us. There was a restaurant/bar directly across the street as well as public access to the water which was nice. There was also a Chinese restaurant across the street and one door down. Otherwise we were a 1 or 2 minute drive to a lot of other places to eat, a gas station and liquor store. We were about a 5 min drive to downtown Belfast which offered nice little shops and restaurants near or on the water.

So, over all, I liked the price, location, cleanliness and friendliness of the property. And, on the downside, it would be nice if they upgraded their carpets and had better muffins in the morning.

Room Tip: Forget about the muffins in the office. Pick up something at the store and keep it in your fridge.

“GREAT THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

My wife and I stayed at The Gull during the Celtic Festival and as we had made no reservations there was a cancellation and we got a room for one night. There was a possibility of staying for another night if the owner could manage to get furniture moved into a newly renovated room. He did and we both breathed a sigh of relief as everywhere else was booked at double or triple the price. You would have to go a long way to find this kind of service. Yes the rooms might be a tad small but the motel is clean and very well maintained. Just across the road is a public access to the beach should you want to take a dip. We would not hesitate to go back and stay again.
