We experienced our first trip to New England and were looking for a place to call home for a couple of days in order to enjoy the Bay area. We found this charming little motel on Rt. 1 just out of town. Good choice, room clean, big, with King bed, bath little but clean and accomodating. The owner (one man operation) was very pleasant and helpful, something you don't find many places these days. As others noted, bath is small, but overall perfect little place for the week, would stay again if return to Maine.

Hotel was less expensive than others in the area, around $40 or more cheaper. Older hotel, but roomy and had a micro and fridge. Full bathroom, but was small. Bed okay, but I wouldn't say real comfortable. Was nice to have a rocking chair in the room, not what you would normally see. They do accept pets, ( I didn't bring one), was very clean. Papa J Restaurant across the street has a longer wine list than menu, looked scary but food was good. www.thegullmotel.com

i had to make last minute reservations for a family funeral. this was one of the few that had a vacancy in the area. i also needed to bring my small dog and check in after midnight. the owner was very accomadating. he left the key out for me. this is not a high end hotel, but rather an old-fashioned motel. the room was clean and as described both on the website and on the phone. my room had 2 queen beds, a fridge, and a microwave. the bathroom was teeny-tiny. my knees hit the tub when i sat on the toilet. the owner was very nice in person as well. he even allowed me to leave my dog in the room alone for a few hours.
